Such is the case with TV star-turned-Hollywood hit-maker Will Smith, whose kids, especially son Jaden, are always making headlines. So how old is Jaden? Here’s a look at his recent birthday celebration.
Jaden is the movie stars’ second child
For those who are unaware, Jaden is the first child born to Will Smith and his wife, actress Jada Pinkett-Smith. They also have a daughter together, Willow, who is 18 years old. Jaden is Will’s second child — he also has a son, Trey, with his ex-wife Sheree Zampino. It was long rumored that Will cheated on Zampino with Pinkett-Smith, but the latter cleared this up on her show Red Table Talk.
One thing you may notice from the names of Will and Jada’s children is how similar they are to their own names. Willow comes from Willard (Will’s first name) and Jaden comes from Jada. Meanwhile, Trey is actually a nickname: Will’s eldest son’s full name is Willard Carroll Smith III.
The Smith men have appeared in several films together
You may recognize Jaden from his roles in many of his father’s projects. The young actor made his film debut in The Pursuit of Happyness portraying his Will’s character’s son, Chris — a role that earned him an MTV Movie Award. He also appeared in After Earth, again playing his dad’s actual child.
Jaden has also starred in several films without his famous father. He starred in remakes such as The Day the Earth Stood Still and The Karate Kid. Additionally, Jaden had a main role in the short-lived Netflix series The Get Down.
Jaden recently celebrated a milestone birthday
On July 8, 2019, Jaden celebrated his 21st birthday. In honor of the big day, Will put together a video compilation for his son. The 12-minute video begins with a clip of him blowing out the candles at one of his earliest birthdays. And that’s just the beginning.
It continued to show clips of Jaden dancing, singing, and playing around, with Jada and Will describing how their son has grown and changed over time. There are also moments of him on talk shows, clips from performances, music videos, and even some unseen moments.

In addition to the compilation, Will had something else up his sleeve. To mark the occasion, his dad recorded a video of the day spent celebrating at the family’s home in Los Angeles. And it looked like they had a really special time together just hanging out, with Will even offering up a little tipsy advice.
After lounging around on the property and drinking a bit, Jaden’s family and friends came together to sing “Happy Birthday” to him. The birthday boy thanked everyone and shared a wholesome hug with his family. Then, after proposing taking shots of tequila together, Will embarrassed his son by saying, “That’s how you got here! Tequila.”

One of Jaden’s most recent projects isn’t entertainment-focused at all. Rather, he created a food truck named I Love Your Restaurant, which gives out health, vegan food to those in need. So far, he has just done a one-day pop-up (which he actually held on his birthday), but he says it’s “the first of many,” so we have a feeling we’ll be hearing more news on this to come.
