Jaden Smith Once Dressed Up as Rumored Boyfriend Tyler, the Creator for Halloween
There are plenty of rumors about Jaden Smith. While the star got his start in Hollywood thanks to his famous parents, he’s paving his own path with his music, fashion, and environmental efforts. And it’s his romantic life that’s also caused quite a splash.
Smith once claimed he was dating musician Tyler, the Creator. And it looks like Smith even dressed up like him for Halloween one year. Here’s what happened.
Jaden Smith once claimed he was dating Tyler, the Creator
Smith isn’t too forthcoming when it comes to his personal life, as he prefers obscure tweets that keep his fans guessing over anything straightforward. But it seems he did want everyone to know where he stood with Tyler, the Creator. While performing at Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival in Los Angeles, Smith had a very important announcement to make to the audience.
“I just want to say Tyler, the Creator is the best friend in the world and I love him so much,” Smith started. “And I want to tell you guys something. I want to tell you. Tyler doesn’t want to say, but Tyler’s my boyfriend, and he’s been my boyfriend my whole life. Tyler, the Creator is my boyfriend. It’s true.”
Smith doubled down on the claim once again during an interview with MSFTS Frequency. “I recently said that Tyler, the Creator is my boyfriend and that’s true, so, just so you know,” he claimed. As for Tyler, he didn’t seem to have much to say about it.
Smith dressed up as Tyler, the Creator for Halloween
It looks like Smith was willing to take his admiration for Tyler, the Creator to the next level. Just Jared notes Smith dressed up as his friend/possible love interest for Halloween back in 2019. The costume seemed to be for a party put on by rapper Drake, and it came complete with a suit that was pink and red along with yellow sunglasses.
Given the photo provided, it seems Smith wasn’t actually romantically linked with Tyler at the time. He was hand in hand with actor Odessa Adlon.
Whether Smith truly had romantic feelings for Tyler or not, it’s clear he loves the artist’s style. He even told GQ that Tyler, the Creator stands as one of his biggest fashion icons.
“Tyler is a business mogul and genius,” Smith started. “I just like all his looks, honestly. He’s just a vibe on every level.”
That costume was better received than Smith’s 2020 costume
While Smith certainly got some head-turning looks for his 2019 costume, it was his 2020 costume that angered fans. Smith attended Kendall Jenner’s huge bash that was severely frowned upon due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. And when Smith arrived on the scene wearing an oxygen mask as part of his Halloween costume, it threw many fans into a frenzy.
Due to the current pandemic, many were upset Smith chose to wear an oxygen mask, as they thought it was making light of the current global situation. Smith maintains that wasn’t the case, though. He posted a photo to his Instagram showing he was actually referencing a character from Christopher Nolan’s new thriller Tenet. The post has since been deleted.
We’re sure Smith will think more on his Halloween costume for next year so he doesn’t upset the masses. Perhaps another Tyler, the Creator look will make a comeback in the future.
