Jaden Smith Said He Almost ‘Flipped the Couch Over’ When Will Smith Did This 1 Thing to Him on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’
Jaden Smith is in his early 20s, but he’s already making a name for himself with his successes in music, movies, and fashion. And it seems he’s quite close with his father, Will Smith. Unfortunately, Will tends to embarrass Jaden when they’re both in public. And Jaden admitted he almost “flipped the couch” when Will did this embarrassing action on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
Ellen DeGeneres once joked with Will Smith regarding how often he embarrasses Jaden Smith
Will and Jaden once appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, and it was clear how much Will adores his son. While the father-son duo worked on films together when Jaden was young, Jaden’s now branching off in his own direction. And he seems to have his father’s support in all of his creative endeavors.
When Will and Jaden talked to Ellen DeGeneres, DeGeneres had to take the opportunity to bust on Jaden for how often Will embarrasses him, though.
“I understand that you purposely try to embarrass Jaden as much as possible,” DeGeneres said to Will. After that, she projected a large image of Will bear-hugging Jaden at a public event.
“You know, I love him, Ellen,” Will defended. “You know, when you have kids and you love them and you’re proud of them, you just want to kiss them in the mouth sometimes.”
Jaden seemed to understand his father’s impulses, but he told DeGeneres that there’s “a time and place” for family affection, and the red carpet isn’t it.
Jaden said he gets super embarrassed when his father tries to kiss him
The interview with DeGeneres isn’t the first time Will or Jaden has brought up Will’s knack for embarrassing his kids. Jaden spoke with Cambio in 2013, and he answered all of his fan’s burning questions. At the beginning of the interview, the topic of Will embarrassing Jaden came up.
“What’s the most embarrassing thing to ever happen to you?” the interviewer asked.
“I’ve never got that, nor have I ever had to think about it,” Jaden started. And he then went on to explain that he surrounds himself with people he’s comfortable with, so he rarely feels any shame. “It’s hard to get embarrassed if you’re around family and friends,” he continued.
Finally, Jaden admitted that Will embarrasses him the most out of anyone. “My dad tries to kiss me on the mouth in public,” he explained. “That’s pretty embarrassing. We were in Korea, he tried to kiss me on my mouth in the press conference. … And on Ellen he tried to kiss me. I almost flipped the couch over.”
All in all, Jaden and Will have a great relationship
Jaden continued on in the Cambio interviewer by stating he appreciates the love, but “there’s a time and place” for it. Overall, though, it seems he and Will are ultra-close, as Jaden’s talked highly of Will and Jada Pinkett Smith.
“I love my parents,” Jaden told Showtime’s Desus and Mero. “I think they’re amazing. They’ve taught me a lot of things and told me very seriously of ways to hold yourself in public and around other people in general. Life’s crazy. Unexpected things happen.”
Jaden also respects Will’s hustle, as he knows that’s how his father became so famous. During the Cambio interview, he said Will is incredibly “driven.”
“That’s how he basically does everything if it’s acting, rapping, or writing, or running. He’s just driven,” Jaden explained. “And he is gonna get to what he said he is gonna get to no matter what. If he says he’s gonna run five miles, he’s gonna run five miles even if he throws up everywhere. That’s why he is so successful at what he does.”
We’re glad Jaden and Will have such a strong bond despite all the ways Will has embarrassed (and will continue to embarrass) his son!
