Jamie Foxx was hospitalized for a mystery illness in 2023, prompting fans’ worry. Now, the actor is ready to tell the whole story in a comedy special about what went down. Unfortunately, fans wondered if Foxx’s illness had anything to do with hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, as the two were close friends. Here’s what Foxx posted to Instagram in November 2024 regarding a “second chance” at life and why there’s speculation that he may get involved in Combs’ trial.

Jamie Foxx thanked God in an Instagram post ahead of the release of his comedy special

Jamie Foxx intends to tell the full story of his 2023 hospitalization in his comedy special, What Had Happened Was, which will be streaming on Netflix starting Dec. 10, 2024. Foxx hasn’t released all of the details surrounding his hospitalization. He explained how it started with a headache, which then resulted in him losing consciousness for 20 days.

“I went through something I thought I would never, ever go through,” Foxx previously shared in an emotional message on social media, according to Variety. “I know a lot of people were waiting or wanting to hear updates, but to be honest with you, I just didn’t want you to see me like that. I want you to see me laughing, having a good time, partying, cracking a joke, doing a movie, television show. I didn’t want you to see me with tubes running out of me, and trying to figure if I was gonna make it through.”

Foxx added a telling text post to Instagram on Nov. 18, 2024. “Me: Thank you God for my second chance,” he wrote. “God: Whatchu GON do wit it? Me: spread joy/laughter erryday. God: bet.”

In the caption, Foxx explained that the special serves as a “thank you to everyone that sent upper prayer.”

Foxx added a text post stating “No bad dayz” five days prior.

“This is my mantra … After surviving something that I thought I would never go through … My good friend James who also happens to be my manager, gave me this phrase … I live by it now … when you come through the darkness, the light looks brighter … and while I’m at it, I want to say thank you to everyone that sent up a prayer,” the comedian continued.

Federal agents arrested Sean “Diddy” Combs in September 2024. The hip-hop mogul, who was once close with Jamie Foxx, now faces charges of racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution, amid additional civil lawsuits.

Videographer and producer Choke No Joke claimed that Foxx said Combs was responsible for his hospitalization. “Diddy was responsible for what happened to him, and [Foxx] is the one who called the FBI on [Combs],” Choke said Foxx stated during the tapings of his live show, according to Page Six. “I don’t think he was joking.”

Celebrity security guard Big Homie .CC echoed the same sentiments as Choke.

However, a source told DailyMail.com that this claim has no truth. “There is no truth to Sean Combs putting Jamie Foxx in the hospital,” the insider explained.

It’s unclear if Foxx will discuss the rumors regarding his hospitalization and Combs in his upcoming special.

The comedian attended Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ parties in the past

Sean “Diddy” Combs had a close relationship with Jamie Foxx. According to Radar Online, Foxx was allowed to bring a camcorder to Combs’ parties. Federal agents are considering contacting Foxx to review the footage on the tapes.

In a resurfaced video of Foxx, he says, “I started following [Combs]. So, I followed him the whole time. I remember watching Puff at the Beverly Hills Hotel. I’m filming this, and it’s a pool party, and it’s ridiculous.”

In 2010, Combs mentioned his close friendship with Ashton Kutcher and Foxx. “For a while, with Jamie Foxx, we were a rat pack, hanging out, going to clubs,” Combs told TIME.
