Jamie Lynn Spears Won’t Be Going on a Book Tour to Promote Her Memoir ‘Things I Should Have Said’
For years, Jamie Lynn Spears often lived in the shadow of her iconic pop princess sister Britney Spears. In 2022, Jamie Lynn released a tell-all memoir that reveals some of the Spears family’s longest-kept secret. But unlike other authors who release a highly publicized book, Spears won’t be going on a book tour to promote it.
Jamie Lynn Spears wrote a book called ‘Things I Should Have Said’
Jamie Lynn Spears’ memoir, titled Things I Should Have Said, tells the story of Jamie Lynn’s life through her eyes and her perspective. She has insisted that everything having to do with her sister in the book is her opinion formed by her own experiences at the time.
Even though Britney Spears has a minor role in the book compared to Jamie Lynn, the “Toxic” singer’s presence is still largely felt. In fact, Jamie Lynn reportedly almost titled the book I Must Confess, a direct reference to her sister’s 1999 breakout single “…Baby One More Time.”
Jamie Lynn Spears isn’t going on a book tour
According to TMZ, sources close to the Spears family revealed that Jamie Lynn didn’t write Things I Should Have Said to make money. Instead, the Zoey 101 star just wanted to use her voice and let her thoughts be known, and to heal from her past and move on.
A portion of the proceeds will reportedly go to a number of unnamed charities. This was decided after Jamie Lynn tried to donate profits from the book to the nonprofit organization This Is My Brave in October 2021, but the charity rejected her gesture because of the backlash against her.
Britney Spears isn’t pleased with Jamie Lynn’s book
Not surprisingly, her sister Britney isn’t pleased with the book, or the media tour that Jamie Lynn has been on to promote it. Jamie Lynn sat down for an exclusive interview with Good Morning America in which she reiterated her love for Britney, but Britney didn’t buy it.
“It was actually kind of nice to watch it with a fever so high I had to surrender to not caring,” Britney said on Twitter. “The two things that did bother me that my sister said was that my behavior was out of control. She was never around me much 15 years ago at that time, so why are they even talking about that unless she wants to sell a book at my expense?”
“Hope your book does well, Jamie Lynn!” she continued. “The media – this business has always been extremely hateful to me. I’ve given enough…MORE than enough. I was never given back ever what I want.”
After Jamie Lynn insisted she didn’t know what her sister was talking about, Britney doubled down on her criticism of her sister on Twitter. “Please stop with these crazy lies for the Hollywood books!!!” she pleaded. “NOW and only NOW I do know only a scum person would make up such things about someone. I’m actually very confused about you making that up because it’s honestly not like you at all!!!!”
