Jana Duggar Confirms She and Stephen Wissmann Dated and Broke up in the Past
The Duggar family once insisted that they focus on “courting” instead of “dating” to avoid heartbreak. Over the years, at least a few Duggar hearts have been broken. While the family only ever announced one failed courtship, the Duggar kids experienced at least three breakups. Jana Duggar and her now-husband, Stephen Wissmann, had a failed relationship before they linked back up and decided to get married.
Jana Duggar confirms past relationship with Stephen Wissmann
The Duggar family might have tried to sell the concept of courtship to their TV viewers, but apparently, a fair bit of dating was actually going on behind the scenes. Jana Duggar once revealed that she had dated several men and that being single didn’t mean she had never experienced a bit of romance. Still, she insisted none of her flings got too serious. Apparently, she returned for a second look at one of those flings. Jana confirmed that she and Stephen Wissmann dated in the past. She has never revealed the names of the other men she dated.
In a chat with People, Jana Duggar revealed that she and Stephen Wissmann had dated in the past but decided to part ways before they eventually got back together. She told the publication that she and Wissmann broke up because they weren’t a good fit at the time. While their breakup lasted years, Duggar reveals that she and Wissmann stayed in contact off and on. Eventually, they decided to rekindle their romance since they both still “enjoyed” and “appreciated” each other.
Duggar family followers were right about the couple’s early romance
Jana Duggar might be confirming her past history with Stephen Wissmann now, but the news isn’t shocking to Duggar family followers. In early 2021, just months before Josh Duggar was arrested for possessing and receiving child pornography, the 34-year-old former reality TV star was spotted in photos with the Wissmanns. At that point, Duggar family followers assumed she was dating someone in the family, although she didn’t confirm it then.
Family followers were sure things had gotten serious when Duggar and Wissmann were spotted together at Justin Duggar’s Texas 2021 wedding and again at a July 4th festival. Suddenly, though, the connection seemed to evaporate. Followers assumed the duo had split up.
Duggar and Wissmann stopped appearing together a few months after the family’s troubled eldest son, Josh Duggar, was arrested. The timing was suspicious. Duggar family followers theorized that Wissmann ended the romance amid Josh Duggar’s growing legal troubles. Still, Wissmann and Jana Duggar couldn’t stay out of each other’s orbit for long. Wissmann’s sister and Duggar’s brother married in March 2022.
Now, Jana Duggar and Stephen Wissmann are husband and wife, and they are planning their life together. Duggar will be moving to Nebraska to make her home with Wissmann.
