Sister Wives star Janelle Brown has absolutely no interest in taking the blame for the Brown family’s lack of financial planning. While Kody Brown attempts to pass off blame for precarious financial situations onto Jenelle during season 19, she’s speaking out against him.

In a tense moment during the Jan. 26 episode, Janelle accused Kody of spending a ton of the family’s money without any consideration for the rest of the family. He insists Janelle handled the finances, but she wants everyone to know she merely recorded the transactions. She doesn’t know any more than her former family members.

Janelle Brown says she never controlled the family’s finances

Kody has spent years trying to make it seem like Janelle was the “family accountant” and, therefore, responsible for how they managed their finances. Janelle is punching back now, insisting that was never the case.

During the Jan. 26 episode, Janelle said that Kody spent a great deal of family money and never revealed where it went or who it was benefiting. She said she was never in control of the money. Instead, she insists that her role in the family finances was to “record the transactions” and send them to a CPA.

Kody and Janelle’s relationship grew icy several years ago. Janelle, along with her former sister wives Christine Brown and Meri Brown, all left Kody within 18 months. He is now in a monogamous relationship with Robyn Brown, but finances continue to bind the former plural family despite everyone moving on.

Meri Brown seemingly backs up Janelle Brown’s statement

Meri Brown and Janelle Brown might never have seen eye-to-eye. Still, they both seem to be in agreement about the Brown family’s finances. At the very least, they have the same concerns. Meri’s revelation a couple of episodes back confirms Janelle’s accusation against Kody.

Janelle Brown Thinks It’s ‘Sad’ Kody Brown Claims Robyn Brown ‘Controlled’ His Other Marriages

Meri called the family’s finances into question during the Jan. 19 episode. The small business owner revealed that while she put plenty of money into the family account during her marriage, her bills were never paid from it.

She told her friend, Jenn Sullivan, that the family’s earnings did not pay for Leon Brown’s college education or their vehicle. She also didn’t pull from the account to cover the mortgage on her Las Vegas home or, presumably, her monthly rent in Flagstaff.

Meri revealed that she did not know where, how, or by whom the money was spent. She even indicated she was unsure which children benefited from the shared account’s funds. Meri was also turned down by Kody and her sister wives when she asked for money to open Lizzie’s Heritage Inn. The family claimed not to have the funds available. She later funded the project on her own. Meri currently lives at the property and is renovating the small business.
