Jason Bateman Apparently Encouraged Dax Shepard to Propose to Kristen Bell
Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard are both well-known celebrity actors, with Bell rising to fame for her work in Veronica Mars and Shepard popular for his performances in a variety of comedies. It wasn’t smooth sailing even after Bell and Shepard started dating, however, and after three months, Shepard broke up with Bell. Bell later revealed:
” … we were dating for about three months, and I already knew that I was in love with him and he was hesitant because he knew he was still dating other people. He sat me down and said, ‘I can’t have this right now. I think you’re wonderful, but I am still dating other people.’ And then I, like, liquefied and fell to the ground, but I felt incredibly respected that he had the balls to tell me we weren’t in the same place.”
In the end, Bell and Shepard got back together not long after the breakup, with Shepard admitting to Bell that he had made a big mistake. In 2010, Bell and Shepard got engaged — but ultimately, it was another three years before they got married.

Dax Shepard later credited his good friend Jason Bateman with giving him the courage to propose to Kristen Bell. Shepard once opened up in an interview, revealing that Bateman told him in 2009 that he should “‘stop f—— around and marry Kristen,” according to Brides.
Not long after that pep talk, Shepard proposed to his longtime girlfriend, and she happily accepted. In October 2013, Bell and Shepard finally tied the knot, in a small courthouse wedding that cost them under $200.
In the years since Bell and Shepard have welcomed two young daughters, Lincoln Bell and Delta Bell, launched a business together, and worked on multiple projects, including a brand-new TV show called Family Game Fight — all while growing and learning in their relationship.
