Jason Kelce’s Silence About Interviewer’s Taylor Swift Description Spurs Travis Kelce Engagement Rumors
Have Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce taken their relationship to the next level and gotten engaged? That’s what some Swifties have asked themselves after the Kansas City Chiefs tight end’s brother, Jason Kelce, didn’t correct an interviewer when they alluded to Swift joining the family.
Jason Kelce stayed silent when an interviewer called Swift his ‘future sister-in-law’
The morning after Swift won big at the 2024 MTV VMAs—she took home seven trophies and made history in the process—the former Philadelphia Eagles center sat down for an interview with the city’s 94WIP’s Morning Show with DeCamara & Ritchie.
Along the way, one of the interviewers referred to Swift as Jason’s “future sister-in-law.” Here’s what they said: “Jason, your future sister-in-law had a bunch of wins last night with the [Video Music Awards].”
At that, Jason said…nothing. He didn’t remark that the SIL title wasn’t accurate or simply say his brother and Swift haven’t quite reached that point in their relationship.

Not correcting the interviewer soon had the internet aflutter with questions about whether or not his younger brother and Swift are actually engaged, per the Daily Mail. Speculation ramped up on X, formerly Twitter, with some taking Jason’s silence as an indication that the two are indeed engaged, just perhaps not announcing it publicly yet.
“No correction?” one person commented before adding, “Hmmmm……” Another chimed in, saying, “Not only does he know but he also isn’t afraid to be vocal about it. It’s happening we just don’t know when.” Another pointed out how the “‘Aunty Tay Tay’” and “‘Future sister-in-law’” descriptors suggest that “Jason knows.”
However, it’s important to note that this is entirely speculation. Like many celebrity couples before them, talk of an engagement and wedding has circulated since almost immediately after Swift and Kelce were first romantically linked back in 2023.
Some reports have claimed Swift already has a maid of honor in mind for her and Kelce’s wedding in addition to a prenup. But, at the time of writing, Swift and Kelce haven’t publicly addressed the engagement rumors or shared whether or not they’re even thinking about marriage.

Based on Swift’s shoutout to Kelce in her Video of the Year acceptance speech for “Fortnight” at the VMAs, they are seemingly still in the dating phase and not currently engaged.
“Something that I’ll always remember,” she told the audience, “is that when I would finish a take, and I’d say, “Cut,” and we’d be done with that take, I would always just hear like someone, like, cheering and, like, [going] “Whoo!” from across the studio where we were shooting it.”
“And that one person was my boyfriend, Travis,” Swift continued amid cheers from the crowd. “Everything this man touches turns to happiness and fun and magic. So I want to thank him for adding that to our shoot, because I’ll always remember that.”
Bottom line: The engagement rumors are just that—rumors. Swift is not wearing an engagement ring, sporting only other pricey gifts, such as a diamond bracelet, from Kelce.
