How Old Are Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s Twins, Sir and Rumi Carter?
You may know Blue Ivy Carter for her spunk and her style, but the Carters have two younger children, Sir and Rumi, who often make appearances on Beyoncé’s Instagram. How old are Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s twins, Sir and Rumi Carter? Here’s what we know about these stars in the making.
Beyoncé and Jay-Z had their twins, Rumi and Sir Carter during 2017
Together, they are, as Kate McKinnon would say, the King and Queen of America. They’re both Grammy award-winning artists, activists, and entrepreneurs. They’ve toured the globe together and even recorded and released an album together in 2018.
Still, Beyoncé and Jay-Z are parents, having three children together. The youngest of their children are the twins, (one boy and one girl,) named Sir and Rumi Carter respectively. According to ABC News, Jay-Z said, “Sir was like, man, come out the gate. He carries himself like that. He just came out, like, Sir.”
“Rumi is our favorite poet, so it was for our daughter,” he explained in an interview with Rap Radar hosts Elliott Wilson and Brian Miller, posted to his streaming service Tidal.
According to the birth certificates, obtained by TMZ, the twins were born on June 13, 2017. Queen Bey later announced their birth on social media with a colorful, floral Instagram post. It earned over 10 million likes.
Beyoncé has since posted some pictures of the twins on social media
Fans can catch a glimpse into Beyoncé’s life with the twins on her social media, where she posted pictures of them for her 2020 “recap.” On her On The Run II tour with Jay-Z, fans saw a video of Beyoncé with her children and for one article, Beyoncé discussed part of her life as a mother.
“I had a clear vision for Coachella,” Beyoncé wrote for Vogue Magazine. “I was so specific because I’d seen it, I’d heard it, and it was already written inside of me. One day I was randomly singing the black national anthem to Rumi while putting her to sleep. I started humming it to her every day.”
Beyoncé and Jay-Z have another child, their oldest daughter, Blue Ivy Carter
Understandably, Rumi and Sir are still pretty young for activities and outings. The Carters’ oldest child, Blue Ivy, often appears alongside her parents. Whether that’s jamming out at a Beyoncé concert or throwing a football around with her father at the 2020 Super Bowl, this little diva steals the show wherever she goes.
Beyoncé even featured Blue Ivy on a song for The Lion King: The Gift, “Brown Skin Girl.” Blue Ivy had a mini cameo in the song “Blue” from Beyoncé’s self-titled album and when Jay-Z and the Grammy-award winner collaborated for The Carters, Blue gave the twins a shoutout for the song “Boss.”
It’s only a matter of time before Rumi and Sir start stealing the spotlight. Music by Beyoncé and Jay-Z, including their joint album The Carters, is available on Spotify, Tidal, Apple Music, and most major streaming platforms.
