Jay-Z Once Bought Once Beyoncé a Super Rare (And Expensive) ‘Game of Thrones’ Gift
When it comes to the most successful and influential couples in the entertainment business, it doesn’t get much bigger than Beyoncé and Jay-Z. Ever since they got married, the pair’s fame and fortune have continued to rise, and today, they’re considered one of the wealthiest celebrity couples in the world with a combined net worth of $1.4 billion.
With both having millions of dollars in the bank, Bey and Jay spare no expense to treating each other to lavish gifts now and again. While some of their most significant presents have come in the form of exotic cars, private jets, and yachts, there have been times the pair’s gone outside of the box when it’s come to gift-giving.
A look at Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s relationship
Music’s most powerful couple has been together for a while now. The pair first met in the late ’90s while attending MTV’s Spring Break Music festival in Cancún. Though the attraction was instantly there for Jay-Z, it wasn’t so much for Beyoncé, who was in a relationship with her high school sweetheart at the time.
In 2002, the couple officially started dating, and two years later, they went public with their relationship for the first time at the BET Awards.
Bey and Jay eventually married in 2008 and have been together ever since, despite the rapper’s infamous infidelity.
But aside from the various obstacles they’ve faced throughout the years, Bey and Jay maintain a loving marriage and continue to dominate in music and various business projects together.
Today, the pair still appear to be head over heels for each other and often showcase their love for one another with lavish gifts that come with a hefty price tag.
Jay-Z bought Beyoncé a special ‘GoT’ gift
Beyoncé and Jay-Z are no strangers to buying one another multi-million gifts to show their love and appreciation. In the past, the couple spared no expense when purchasing each other luxury cars, private jets, yachts, and even jewelry.
But nothing said, “I love you, babe,” more than when Jay-Z bought his lovely wife one of the three dragon eggs from the hit HBO series Game of Thrones — upping the ante in gift-giving.
In 2015, Thrones actress Emilia Clarke suggested Hova dropped some big bucks on one of Khaleesi’s dragon eggs for Bey, a known fan of the medieval fantasy.
“Apparently Jay-Z bought one for Beyoncé, or something,” she told Harper’s Bazaar. “I don’t know.”
Clarke revealed that even she’s tried to “blag,” or steal, an egg for herself. However, the mother of dragons failed to acquire one, because “they are really, really, really expensive and they are really f*cking heavy and serious works of art.”
While it’s unclear how much Jay-Z paid for the dragon egg, we can easily assume it wasn’t a low number. Though replicas of the egg go for around a hundred bucks on websites like eBay, it’s likely the actual prop is worth thousands, if not millions of dollars.
Though we’ll probably never know the exact amount Jay dished out on the gift for his Game of Thrones loving wife, it clear he’s the one winning in the gift-giving department.
