Jenelle Evans Says Cheating Was The ‘Final Straw’ In Her Relationship with David Eason
Jenelle Evans is going through another breakup just one year after filing for legal separation from David Eason. While her split from August Keen is still fresh, the former Teen Mom 2 star is taking a break from talking about him to circle back to the end of her romance with David Eason.
For the first time, Evans is opening up about the “final straw” that ended her ill-fated marriage. While many followers assumed Evans split from Eason because he was charged with child abuse for attacking her teen son, she says that isn’t the reason. She says the “final straw” came when Eason tried to hook up with his ex-wife.
Jenelle Evans finally reveals the reason she and David Eason broke up
Jenelle Evans and David Eason had a tumultuous romance and deeply troubled marriage. During their time together, multiple 911 calls were placed from their property, and Eason shot and killed the family dog.
By February 2024, Evans shocked followers when she filed for legal separation from Eason. A year later, she explained what was the “last straw.”
In a YouTube video, Evans said she ultimately decided to call it quits with Eason when she discovered he had been romantically texting his ex-wife. She said she learned of the infidelity through articles published online. In October 2023, the U.S. Sun posted a series of texts sent from Eason’s phone to his ex-wife, Whitney Johnson.
David makes advances toward Whitney, claiming he regrets not being with her. He also claimed he dreamt about her regularly. Johnson, with whom Eason shares his eldest child Maryssa Eason, is married to someone else.
In the YouTube upload, Evans said she couldn’t get past the messages and decided to end the relationship because of them. Shortly after the messages were leaked, both Evans and Eason tried to claim that the texts had been photoshopped. Based on Evans’ most recent upload, it sounds like she never believed that.
Both Eason and Evans moved on. Evans moved to Las Vegas to pursue a relationship with August Keen, while Eason stayed in North Carolina and moved into a home owned by his much younger girlfriend. Despite Eason’s legal issues, Eason and Kenleigh Heatwole have been filming “couples content” TikTok videos together. Keen and Evans have split.
‘Teen Mom’ fans criticize Evans for admitting David cheating led to the split
While Evans doesn’t seem to find anything wrong with her reasoning for the split, followers are aghast. Many wanted to believe the former Teen Mom 2 star finally came to her senses and kicked Eason to the curb to focus on Jace Evans. That would have been seen as noble despite the decision coming months after Eason was charged with child abuse. The fact that the cheating is what pushed her over the edge instead of the alleged child abuse has garnered criticism.
To be fair, it shouldn’t have come as much of a surprise. Following Eason’s arrest, Evans defended him, insisting that the situation was a misunderstanding. At one point, she even claimed she was going to “expose” everyone who had wronged her and her then-husband.
David Eason was Evans’ longest relationship, but he isn’t the first man Evans chose over her child. Fans spent many seasons of the infamous MTV series watching Evans float from boyfriend to boyfriend, popping in and out of her eldest child’s life. In the season 2 finale of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter, Jace even admitted to resenting his mother because he wanted everything to “calm down.”
MTV no longer employs Jenelle Evans, and Jace’s voice isn’t being heard publicly. Still, it seems unlikely that calm is what he’s experienced for the months Evans and August Keen were involved. Keen painted a picture of toxicity and violence in his restraining order request.
