Jenelle Evans Won’t Be Returning to ‘Teen Mom: The Next Chapter’ for Season 3, August Keen Partly to Blame
Jenelle Evans‘ return to reality TV will be short-lived. While the Teen Mom 2 alum appeared during season 2 of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter after a five-year hiatus from the franchise, she won’t appear in season 3. As is typical for Evans, the current man in her life played a significant role in MTV’s decision not to bring her back.
Jenelle Evans won’t be returning for season 3 of ‘Teen Mom: The Next Chapter’
It’s official: Jenelle Evans won’t be included in season 3 of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter. On Oct. 21, The Ashley Reality Roundup Group reported that MTV has opted not to feature Evans in season 3. Evans had hinted at the network’s decision several weeks back.
When MTV cameras picked back up with Jenelle Evans, she considered moving to Florida. The move would have allowed MTV to follow her as she forged her path as a single mother. That is, reportedly, the storyline the network bought, but it’s not what they got. Evans quickly changed directions. She decided to move her kids to Las Vegas the moment her romance with her sort-of manager, August Keen, started to bloom. Reportedly, that is where everything went wrong for the network.
August Keen was too involved in her life for MTV’s liking
While The Ashley Reality Roundup Group insists MTV’s decision not to bring Evans back for season 3 of the show is multiple-faceted, it seems like Evans’ love life has, once again, stunted her earning potential. According to the publication, MTV hoped to film a “redemption” arc for Evans after her failed marriage, but she pushed hard for Keen to be shown as her boyfriend on the show. An insider told the publication the romance angle didn’t sit well with producers, so they opted to move on.
Keen apparently sabotaged Evans’ reality TV comeback from another angle, too. According to insiders, Keen wanted MTV to feature Evans’ planned breast augmentation, hoping to get Evans the surgical procedure for free. MTV didn’t go for the idea, which led to tension between Evans and the production team.
This is the 2nd time Jenelle Evans’ romantic entanglements ruined her reality TV career
Evans is no stranger to choosing a man over her career. If August Keen is really to blame for MTV opting not to bring her back for season 3 of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter, he will be the second partner to come between Evans and her MTV paycheck. Several of her toxic relationships were featured on Teen Mom 2. Still, MTV had to draw the line somewhere. The production team had enough when David Eason came on the scene.
Evans was booted from Teen Mom 2 in 2019 because of her relationship with David Eason. While the network announced her departure after Eason shot and killed the family dog, they hadn’t been filming with her for several months and had no plans to do so when the incident occurred. The network had stepped away from Evans because of how volatile her then-husband had become. She opted to stay with him, giving up her career in the process.
