Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey’s Theory on the 4 People Dwight Doesn’t Like in ‘The Office’
Dwight Schrute (Rainn Wilson) made it known in an episode that he likes everyone he works with except for four people. That leaves The Office fans wondering who doesn’t he like and why? Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey shared their picks on who Dwight doesn’t like and gave their reasons.
Dwight admits he likes everyone at work except 4 people
The episode “Drug Testing” shows Dwight investigating who was smoking weed after he finds half a joint in the parking lot. He interviews all of the people he thinks are suspects.
There is a scene of Dwight talking about work. “I like the people I work with generally with four exceptions. But someone committed a crime and I did not become a Lackawanna County volunteer sheriff’s deputy to make friends, and by the way I haven’t,” he said.
The episode goes on to show him at odds with most people in the office because of his accusations. That includes Michael (Steve Carell) who doesn’t want there to be an investigation.
Fischer and Kinsey give their theory on who he doesn’t like
Fischer and Kinsey talked about “Drug Testing” on Office Ladies. They said many fans asked them who are the four people Dwight doesn’t like at work. They went on to give their theory.
“I think he doesn’t like Jim,” answered Fischer. Kinsey agreed and said, “Jim is number one on the list for me.” However, the actors started having different theories after that.
Fischer believed Creed (Creed Bratton) could be one. “I would say Toby (Paul Lieberstein) just because Michael (Steve Carell) hates Toby and Dwight loves Michael,” explained Kinsey. They ruled out Pam, but came up with a few other possibilities.
“Maybe Ryan (B.J. Novak) and Kelly (Mindy Kaling),” said Fischer. Kinsey thinks Ryan is a possibility because Dwight would see him as competition. “Maybe ’cause he’s competitive, maybe one of the other sales reps. I don’t know, said Kinsey.
The actors said the answer was never written down so we may never know the real answer.
Rainn Wilson’s favorite episode involves Dwight and Jim
It’s up for debate on how Dwight feels about Jim. Most of the time they are seen at odds because of Jim’s jokes and pranks. But they also have sweet moments and Wilson talked about his favorite episode is when Jim and Pam visit Schrute Farms.
“There’s a beautiful moment when Dwight is heartbroken because Angela has left him, and they’re sitting in the stairwell — him and Jim — and Jim offers him some consolation,” Wilson said on ESPN’s Get Up. “And then Dwight reaches out. He’s kind of in tears, and he reaches out and he puts his arm out like he’s going to grab Jim. But then he looks and Jim is gone, and Dwight looks around and he’s kind of embarrassed.”
He continued, “And I love that moment because it kind of sums up The Office for me because if Dwight had connected with Jim, if Dwight had put his arm around Jim and they had like looked into each other’s eyes and said, ‘I gotcha, bro. I’m here for you,’ and they had a bro moment, then the whole show would have fallen apart because they need to be antagonists.”
Dwight and Jim certainly had moments where they hated each other then liked each other. We may never know for certain if Jim is then on Dwight’s list.
