Jennie Matches Each BLACKPINK Member to the Disney Princesses
BLACKPINK’s in your area. Jennie, Rosé, Lisa, and Jisoo still have time to watch Disney films between recording, writing, and performing music. That includes award-winning Disney princess flicks like Beauty and the Beast, Frozen, and Tangled.
Here’s what Jennie said about these animated characters and their matching BLACKPINK members.
BLACKPINK rapper Jennie covered ‘When Will My Life Begin’ from Disney’s ‘Tangled’
BLACKPINK is the chart-topping girl group behind “Kill This Love” and “How You Like That.” Aside from creating music together, Lisa, Jennie, Jisoo, and Rosé embark on solo projects.
For Jennie, that included making her own YouTube channel, where she even posted a cover of “When Will My Life Begin” from Tangled. With that same YouTube channel, Jennie added her Disney-themed hair clips to her list of “essentials.”
“This is one of my favorite items these days,” Jennie said, according to a translation on the video, holding up two hair clips. “This is Donald Duck and this is Donald… girl? I don’t know her name.”
Other BLACKPINK members shared their love for Disney characters. During a 2021 interview with Complex, Lisa revealed her admiration for Frozen’s Olaf, mainly because he’s “so happy” — he’s a snowman, but he still loves summer and warm hugs.
Lisa even shared that the “GOAT” Disney character is Bolt from the 2008 animated film. When it comes to the Disney princess that best represents this rapper, Jennie chose Rapunzel.
Jennie matched the BLACKPINK members to the Disney princesses
These idols are pretty different in terms of their personalities. It makes sense that Jennie would give each of them a Disney princess to represent them. In 2019, Jennie posted an Instagram story of Disney princess toys, assigning a BLACKPINK member to their corresponding characters.
Jennie picked the intelligent “funny girl,” Belle from Beauty and the Beast, for the oldest BLACKPINK member, Jisoo. Rosé was named the adventurous Ariel from The Little Mermaid. Lisa, the youngest member of BLACKPINK, was named Rapunzel from Disney’s animated film Tangled.
This rapper performed one song from Disney’s Tangled. However, Jennie named herself Jasmine, the free-spirited daughter of the sultan in Disney’s animated and live-action adaptations of Aladdin.
BLACKPINK collaborated with former Disney Channel star, Selena Gomez for ‘Ice Cream’
Sometimes, these artists share their love for Disney’s television network, as well as the company’s animated films. When BLACKPINK collaborated with Disney Channel alumni Selena Gomez, they were sure to mention their love for Wizards of Waverly Place and songs created by the “Lose You to Love Me” artist
“I got to meet a singer that I’ve seen since I was young, and I got to talk to her and take pictures with her. It was all very nice,” Jisoo said of working with Gomez, according to a translation from Pinkvilla.
Although the BLACKPINK members have not yet collaborated with the Walt Disney Company, they partnered with the rival streaming platform, Netflix, to release BLACKPINK: Light Up the Sky in several countries.
Fans can catch up with Rosé, Jennie, Lisa, and Jisoo on social media. Music by BLACKPINK, including their single with Gomez, “Ice Cream,” is available on most major streaming platforms.
