Would Jennifer Aniston Join ‘Big Little Lies’ if Season 3 Happens? Reese Witherspoon Hopes So
Big Little Lies originally began as a limited series on HBO, but due to popular demand it received a second season. While there is no official word on a third season, Reese Witherspoon hopes Jennifer Aniston will join Big Little Lies if Season 3 happens.

‘Big Little Lies’ premiered in 2017
Big Little Lies is based on a novel by the same name written by Liane Moriarty. The show premiered in 2017 on HBO as a miniseries. It stars Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern, and Zoë Kravitz and follows their characters as they become involved with a murder investigation in Monterey, Calif.
The first season of Big Little Lies achieved critical acclaim and won eight Emmy Awards. Alexander Skarsgård won Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie, Dern won Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie, and Kidman won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie.
Big Little Lies was renewed for a second season which premiered in 2019 and Meryl Streep joined the cast. The season finale of Season 2 of Big Little Lies ended with Bonnie (Kravitz) turning herself in for killing Perry (Skarsgård), thus relieving herself and the rest of the Monterey Five of the lie that haunted them.
Will there be a Season 3 of the show?
The Season 2 finale of Big Little Lies left fans with lots of questions, and while a third season has not been confirmed, there seems to be just enough out there to keep fans hoping. Back in 2019, HBO president Casey Bloys said he would want a third season of Big Little Lies, but it is not realistic right now.
“I love this group of people—I would do anything with them. But the reality is, they are some of the busiest actresses working in Hollywood… We have deals with some of them—Nicole is doing her next show [The Undoing] with us. I just think it’s not realistic,” Bloys told TV Line. “If they all came to me and said, ‘We worked out all of our schedules’—then sure. But I just don’t think it’s realistic.”
While Bloys does not think a third season is realistic, some of the cast have been vocal about wanting another season.
“Everyone says, ‘Are you going to do a season three?’ We’re like, ‘Just give us a sec,'” Kidman told Elle in 2019. “We’d love to [do another season] because we love being together, and it’s lovely spending time with your friends, and with such good material.”
Reese Witherspoon wants Jennifer Aniston to join ‘Big Little Lies’
Aniston and Witherspoon have known each other for years, and most recently worked together on Apple TV’s The Morning Show. In a 2019 interview with The Times, Witherspoon told Aniston she wants the actress to join the cast of Big Little Lies.
“We wrapped The Morning Show, she went directly to another show. There is no hanging out to be done with this hard-working woman,” Aniston said of Witherspoon.
“Come on Big Little Lies,” Witherspoon responded.
While Season 3 of Big Little Lies is not confirmed, it seems the cast members are ready for another season. If a third season ever did happen, Aniston would obviously be a great addition.
