Jennifer Aniston has been involved in many high-profile relationships over the years. Although she’s used to being on the dating scene, dating in itself isn’t something she enjoys.

As is the case with many celebrities, Aniston is used to hearing rumors about her dating life. Just recently, for instance, the Friends alum sparked engagement rumors when she arrived at the 2024 SAG Awards wearing a ring. According to Hola!, she wore the ring on the same hand usually reserved for accepting marriage proposals. This was in spite of the fact that Aniston was single at the time.

Rumors like those were partially why Aniston didn’t like dating at all. Because of her celebrity status, whoever she’s seen hanging out with is often speculated to be a potential suitor.

“But no, I’m not a big fan of dating. I have dinner with male friends and it’s instantly, that’s the new man. The phone is ringing off the hook from your publicist saying, ‘Did you have dinner with so and so?’ and it’s yes, I did and no, I’m not. So you sort of just meet people,” she once told Red.

Aniston also wasn’t very keen on dating due to her parents. Watching their own romantic relationship further reduced her expectations of dating life.

“It was always a little bit difficult for me in relationships, I think, because I really was kind of alone. I don’t know,” she said in an interview with The Wall Street Journal. “My parents, watching my family’s relationship, didn’t make me kind of go: ‘Oh, I can’t wait to do that.’”

“I didn’t like the idea of sacrificing who you were or what you needed, so I didn’t really know how to do that,” she added. “So it was almost easier to just be kind of solo. So I didn’t have any real training in that give-and-take.”

Aniston’s married twice already, and it seems she’s unlikely to repeat what could be a mistake for a third time. She was married to Pitt from 2000 to 2005. Then, she married her longtime boyfriend, Justin Theroux, from 2015 to 2018. Speaking with Allure, she confided that she didn’t see herself walking down the aisle again. But she didn’t close the door on the possibility.

“Never say never, but I don’t have any interest,” Aniston said. “I’d love a relationship. Who knows? There are moments I want to just crawl up in a ball and say, ‘I need support.’”

Aniston’s career only made it more difficult to enter any meaningful relationships.

“It’s just about not being afraid to say what you need and what you want. And it’s still a challenge for me in a relationship,” she said. “I’m really good at every other job I have, and that’s sort of the one area that’s a little…”

If certain sources are to be believed, however, Aniston has been trying to give dating another shot in recent years. But she’s allegedly had trouble finding anyone worth her time.

“Jen tells a great story about one of the worst dates she’s ever been on,” a source said according to Yahoo. “It was with a very handsome studio executive who brought an envelope to their dinner date. After a few minutes of small talk, he pulled out a screenplay for a slasher-horror-film-meets-rom-com he was working on. Not only did he write it, but he also wanted to be in it, opposite Jen as the star. She was flabbergasted.”

That was just one of a few red flags it was claimed Aniston has been facing over the years.
