Jennifer Garner Confesses She and Ben Affleck Handled Conflict in a ‘Loving’ and ‘Adult’ Way
Throughout her marriage to Ben Affleck, Jennifer Garner regularly referenced her respect for him in interviews. However, she was always a bit guarded about revealing too much personal information about their union. Thus, it was surprising when, in 2007, she spoke openly about how the couple handled disagreements and made their marriage work.

Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck wed in 2005. Their intimate wedding created an us-against-the-world start to their union. They didn’t even invite their families to the Turks & Caicos affair.
Both were fresh off marriages and engagements. Garner divorced Scott Foley, and Affleck ended his engagement with Jennifer Lopez.
Garner revealed there was no secret sauce to their union. She said it just worked.
“I don’t know what makes it work. But it does,” Garner admitted to Marie Claire. “One thing that makes it not work is that we’re both pretty nice.”
She added, “He’s not someone who’s ever going to blow up on anyone. What I mean is, if he’s ever angry with me, he doesn’t act out on it in a weird way or yell at me. And I am the same. So we can handle conflict in a very loving and adult way.”

Jennifer Garner added that one of the things she respected about her then-husband was his ability to “connect” with people. She believed he had an uncanny knack for getting the most out of conversation.
“Ben’s very interested in finding out what makes people tick. When he’s listening to someone — and this can be someone he meets in the street, his brother, or anyone whom he’s standing next to in line — if he clicks into them, he can stand in one spot for hours. It’s amazing,” she commended.
However, Garner and Affleck’s marriage didn’t last despite their love and affection for each other. They divorced in 2018.
Jennifer and Ben remain devoted and dedicated parents to their three children
The couple’s three children remain a central focus in their lives. No matter their differences, Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck appear to have prioritized their children’s well-being. She has praised him publicly for his strong relationships with their kids.
Paparazzi photos have shown the couple together at school pickups, events, and most recently, at a drop-off for daughter Violet, who started Yale University as a freshman. The couple, Violet and daughter Serafina, were seen in New Haven, CT, where they had lunch and got Violet settled in.
Affleck and Garner also have a son, Samuel. It is unclear if he made the trip with his parents and sisters.
Ben Affleck is divorcing Jennifer Lopez, whom he was married to for two years. Jennifer Garner is reportedly still dating John Miller, her beau since 2018.
