Affleck and Jennifer Garner sustained a friendship after finalizing their divorce in 2018. They share three kids, so they wanted to maintain a good relationship. Now, Affleck reportedly confides in Garner regarding his marital woes with Lopez. A source told Life & Style in July 2024 that Garner “had doubts” about Affleck and Lopez from the start.
“Jen definitely had doubts that Ben and J. Lo would work out,” the insider claimed. “But she says her biggest concern is Ben spiraling worse than before. She won’t let that happen. Jen’s moved on from Ben as a husband, but because of the children they share, she’ll always feel responsible for him.”
Another source added that Garner is “opening up to friends like never before” about Affleck and Lopez and “explaining why she’s been so involved lately and is often seen visiting Ben. She wants to finally share her side of the story.”
The first source noted that Garner “knows” Affleck “better than anyone else,” but hearing him talk about his marriage “can be overwhelming.”

“Jen eventually got to a place where she was like, ‘Sorry, figure this out yourself,’” an insider told DailyMail.com. “It was beginning to become too painful for her because it was bringing back so many memories of their divorce.”
While Garner cares deeply for Affleck and appreciates Lopez, she knows she can’t save either.
“But in the end, it is not Jen’s circus, not Jen’s monkeys, and she is done playing marriage counselor to her ex-husband and his wife,” the insider continued.
