Jennifer Garner has allegedly helped Ben Affleck with his divorce from Jennifer Lopez. Affleck and Lopez tied the knot in 2022, and Lopez served him divorce papers in August 2024. The exes finalized their split in January 2025. In late January, a source told In Touch Weekly that Garner “has a huge amount of sway” over Affleck and has opinions regarding how he treats Lopez.
“He’s been so impatient with her and actually quite ungrateful, at least in Jen’s view,” the insider noted.
The source added that Garner “knows Ben is frustrated with how much J.Lo is still trying to micromanage him,” but Lopez’s behavior toward her ex is “very kind.” Additionally, Garner finds it impressive how Lopez remains “devoted to the kids” amid the split. Lopez’s twins, Max and Emme Muniz, 16, became good friends with Affleck and Garner’s kids, Violet, 19, Fin, 15, and Samuel, 12.
“[Lopez] has stuck to her word and continued to be in their lives, even though Ben hasn’t exactly done the same for J.Lo’s twins,” the insider continued. “Jen has admonished him for that big time and ordered him to step up his efforts.”
Finally, the source noted that Affleck acts “pretty rude and grumpy whenever he talks to or sees J. Lo, and for Jen, that’s just not acceptable.” Garner “thinks he needs to grow up and act like an adult and start being a lot nicer to J.Lo.”

“She’s enjoying being single and is feeling herself,” the source shared. “She was very in love with Ben, but love isn’t enough sometimes. Things worked out for the best and how they were supposed to.”
While the insider says Lopez is focusing on herself, additional sources alleged she was cozying up to Kevin Costner. The two allegedly hit it off around Christmas while in Aspen. While fans wanted this to be true, another source told People that Costner “is not seriously involved with anyone and not necessarily looking for anything more than that right now.”

“Jennifer is finally putting the focus back on herself and everyone is happy to see it,” the insider alleged. “She’ll never be a diva, but she deserves to be the center of attention after putting Ben [Affleck] first for so long, and this shopping trip in Paris was the perfect reward.”
The insider added that Miller encourages Garner to “go all out” with what she wants for their possible future wedding. “He loves the idea of giving her something that Ben never did, so he’s totally encouraging her to go all out,” they said.
