Jennifer Garner’s Boyfriend Doubts Ben Affleck Can Maintain ‘Healthy Boundaries’ After Holidays, Source Says
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner maintained a close friendship post-divorce. In 2024, the media caught wind that Garner was seemingly helping Affleck through his divorce from Jennifer Lopez. And Affleck spent Thanksgiving and Christmas with Garner and their three kids. Unfortunately, Garner’s boyfriend, John Miller, allegedly doubts Affleck’s ability to keep “healthy boundaries” with Garner.
Jennifer Garner’s boyfriend, John Miller, allegedly feels wary of Ben Affleck’s ‘constant presence’
Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck finalized their divorce in 2018 — the same year Garner started dating John Miller. Miller and Garner keep their romance out of the spotlight, as Garner prefers privacy. However, the media has kept up with Garner and Affleck’s friendship in 2024 due to Affleck’s divorce from Jennifer Lopez. Several sources noted how Affleck confided in Garner over his marital woes and looked to her for guidance.
Affleck and Garner spend a lot of time together due to their proximity and three children. A source told Life & Style in January 2024 that Miller “has shown the patience of an absolute saint” with his support for Garner and Affleck’s friendship. However, “even he’s hit the wall.”
“Ben’s constant presence is very hard to take; John’s like the third wheel in his own relationship,” the source explained.
The insider added that Garner “always answers” Affleck’s calls or texts because Affleck might call about an emergency or their kids. “It’s obvious she adores him, and it’s always been understood, any man that dates her has to be OK with Ben,” they continued. The insider also noted that Miller doubts that Affleck can stick to “healthy boundaries” with Garner.
“And unless Jen can start holding her ground and start making her life with John a priority there’s a growing feeling among his friends that he won’t be able to take this situation much longer, something’s got to give,” the source continued.
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner ‘stayed family-focused’ through the years, a source says
John Miller might have concerns over Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck’s boundaries. However, a source told In Touch Weekly that the exes are in the “best place in their relationship” after spending Christmas together.
“[Jennifer] and Ben are probably at the best place in their relationship right now,” the insider said. “They’ve been through so much together, but they’ve stayed family-focused during the ups and downs. They both put their kids first, and they genuinely like each other.”
Another insider told People that Garner and Affleck spent Christmas together primarily for their kids: Violet, 19, Fin, 15, and Samuel, 12. “Jen and Ben were all together for Christmas. It’s all for the kids,” the source explained. “Jen grew up surrounded by her family for the holidays, and she wants the same for her kids.”
John Miller is ‘pretty much the opposite’ of his girlfriend’s ex, another source says
Jennifer Garner and John Miller are seemingly on the path to marriage. Several sources alleged that the couple was looking at potential wedding venues. While Garner adored Ben Affleck during their marriage, Miller is reportedly “the opposite” of Affleck, which might work better for Garner now.
“The relationship with John came about because he is pretty much the opposite of Ben Affleck,” a source told Life & Style. “He’s a relaxed guy with nothing to prove, not a giant ball of stress with a chip on his shoulder like Ben can be on his worst days.”
The insider added that Garner and Millers “wildly different personalities” have some folks close to them wondering if their romance will last. However, Miller remains loyal and steadfast in Garner’s life.
