Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck had a tight-knit bond after their divorce in 2018. The couple share three kids and vowed to co-parent effectively by staying friends. While Affleck moved on with Jennifer Lopez, Garner supported her ex-husband when his new marriage went south.
A source told Life & Style that Garner was “tolerant” of Lopez, but all bets are now off.
“Jen was extremely tolerant and always found a way to bite her tongue and be cordial to J.Lo whenever they were in the same room,” the source claimed. “But truth be told, they’re like oil and water; you couldn’t find two people more different.”
The source spoke to the publication one month before Lopez officially filed for divorce. However, according to the divorce documents, Lopez listed the official date of separation as April 26, 2024.
The insider claimed that Garner knew Affleck and Lopez’s romance “would end in tears” yet again. “She’s trying to be diplomatic about it; she doesn’t want anyone, least of all the kids, to be aware that there’s any lingering bad blood between her and J.Lo,” they continued.
The source added that Garner and Affleck’s kids bonded with Lopez’s kids, and Garner doesn’t want to discourage that. “But as far as her relationship with J. Lo, that’s done and she totally agrees it’s for the best.”

A source told DailyMail.com that Garner felt “used as a pawn” by Lopez, as she was often playing “mediator” for her ex-husband and his wife.
“Jen feels slightly used as a pawn in J.Lo’s bid to repair her marriage,” the source said, according to MSN. “She doesn’t believe it was intentional.”
“She was put in the middle, and her friends think — no matter how you look at it — a man’s ex-wife should never have to play mediator in a divorce from his new wife,” the source continued.
Another insider said Garner eventually established boundaries with Affleck regarding his issues with Lopez. “Jen eventually got to a place where she was like, ‘Sorry, figure this out yourself,’” a source told DailyMail.com. “It was beginning to become too painful for her because it was bringing back so many memories of their divorce.”
