Jennifer Lopez and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs had a romantic relationship for years in the late ’90s and early 2000s. While they went their separate ways, they remained friendly. Lopez has remained notoriously silent on Combs’ September 2024 arrest and the serious allegations and charges against him. Here’s what happened when a fan asked Lopez about Combs at an event in October 2024.

Jennifer Lopez stormed out of an event after a fan asked a question about Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs

Jennifer Lopez made it clear that she doesn’t have to answer every fan question. One subject seemed to severely throw her off her game at the AFI Fest 2024 Unstoppable screening and Q&A in Los Angeles in October 2024.

DailyMail.com notes a clip from the event shows fans approaching Lopez while she signed autographs. One fan asked Lopez, “J.Lo, do you have any comments about Diddy and the allegations?” Lopez immediately stopped signing autographs following the question. Fans shouted for her not to leave as she stormed out of the event.

Lopez and Combs initially met on the set of Lopez’s music video for “If You Had My Love.” They sustained a relationship from 1999 to 2001. While they had a strong connection, Lopez said in interviews that they had very different values as a couple. Lopez said she was more “family-oriented” than Combs. Ultimately, they went their separate ways but remained friendly through the years.

Lopez hasn’t publicly commented on the lawsuits piling up against Combs. Homeland Security raided two of Combs’ properties in March 2024. Federal agents arrested the hip-hop mogul in September 2024. Combs pleaded not guilty to charges of racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. He heads to trial in May 2025.

Jennifer Lopez could get hit with a subpoena for the case

According to lawyers associated with Sean “Diddy” Combs’ court case, several A-list celebrities have already received calls. Any celebrity previously involved in Combs’ illegal activity or who might’ve seen Combs break the law could be subjected to a subpoena. Lopez’s long history with Combs and her attendance at his White Parties might mean she has to speak on what she saw at the time. Additionally, she and Combs were involved in a 1999 nightclub shooting, which might also be brought up in court.

Jay-Z and other celebrities can be subpoenaed, but they will almost certainly assert their Fifth Amendment privilege against self-incrimination and refuse to testify,” former prosecutor Neama Rahmani told The U.S. Sun. “People who participated in the sex acts should especially be afraid because they can also be charged with sex trafficking or prostitution, depending on whether they used threats or force against the victims.”

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs allegedly expected his exes to stand up for him

A source recently told In Touch Weekly that Sean “Diddy” Combs expected his exes, like Jennifer Lopez, to stand up for him after his arrest. Unfortunately, no celebrities publicly announced their support for Combs. The source noted that Combs is “radioactive,” and it would be “social suicide” for anyone to involve themselves.

“He’s still in total denial and actually expected all his high-profile friends, and even his exes like J.Lo and Cameron [Diaz], to stand up for him,” the insider alleged. “He can’t wrap his head around the fact that everyone’s just dropped him and wants no part of his sordid scandal.”
