They were engaged years ago, with a long break in-between, during which Affleck was instead married to Jennifer Garner. No matter their relationship statuses, the kids are always put first — with their well-being in mind. J-Lo and Ben Affleck are on again after a significant break
In 2001, Affleck and Lopez starred in the movie Gigli together. Vulture discusses how by July 2002, they were spotted kissing at a party — despite the fact that Lopez was already married. She filed for divorce two days later. By November, the pair were engaged and seemed as happy as ever. When September 2003 rolled around, however, the pair released a statement postponing their wedding. Come January 2004, it was finally revealed that the couple had called it quits.
It didn’t take long before Affleck moved on to another Jen. He made his public appearance with Jennifer Garner in October 2004. They had met on the set of the film Pearl Harbor back in 2000. Though he later revealed he first fell for her on the set of the film Daredevil in 2002. That same year was when he was spotted with Lopez, though.
Regardless, “Bennifer: The Sequel” — as he and Garner had been labeled — married in 2005. They welcomed three children together over the course of their relationship. They lasted until 2018, when they divorced.
By April 2021, the original Bennifer pairing was back together. Affleck and Lopez started spending time together again following her split with Alex Rodriguez, and they have now introduced each other to their children. Lopez has two children herself — twins Emme and Max with ex-husband, Marc Anthony.

Over Halloween 2021, both Jens, Affleck, and all of their children were spotted Trick-or-Treating in the same neighborhood. It wasn’t quite a family affair, though.
Yahoo! Entertainment details how Garner and Affleck dined with their children earlier in the day at Huckleberry. Later, Affleck and Lopez took the kids around for some Halloween fun. Garner stayed in the same neighborhood but walked around with friends instead.
“Everyone gets along and the focus is always on the kids. Jennifer, Ben and Jen Garner all wanted the kids to have an amazing Halloween,” a source told People. “The kids are friends and wanted to go trick-or-treating together. It made sense that they all went together.”
Lopez and Affleck’s kids have been spending a lot of time together and have become friends, so it seems they wanted to enjoy Halloween night together as well.
The three are pros at co-parenting in general
Always the epitome of kind, considerate, and motherly, Garner vows to co-parent for the benefit of her kids. Though she once thought she’d never be able to dance with Affleck at their children’s weddings, that has since changed considering the progress their co-parenting relationship has made.
“When our kids get married, we’ll dance, I know that now,” she told The Hollywood Reporter in March 2021. “We’ll boogaloo and have a great time. I don’t worry about that anymore.”
Affleck has also opened up about the importance of being able to co-parent with Garner. “When you have children with somebody you’re connected to them forever, and I’m very lucky she is the mother of my children,” he told People in early 2020.
“I’m very grateful and respectful of her,” he added. “Our marriage didn’t work, and that’s difficult. Both of us really believe that it’s important for kids to see their parents respect one another and get along, whether they’re together or not.”
Jennifer Lopez seems to agree with this approach to co-parenting with Marc Anthony as well. In the past, they each held hands with their daughter for a photo. The pair accompanied their child to her school’s holiday concert.
With good co-parenting skills already in the mix, it’s safe to say the mingling of Ben and Jen’s kids with Jen and Marc Antony’s kids is going well. And these parents seem to be doing everything they can to keep it that way.
