The media continues following hip-hop mogul Sean “P. Diddy” Combs after Homeland Security raided two properties in March 2024. Since the raids, several women have stepped forward to accuse Combs of assaulting them. Additionally, footage of Combs attacking his ex-girlfriend, Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, in a hotel room made its rounds online. Now, an expert thinks Jennifer Lopez could be called as a witness in a future trial for Combs. Here’s why.

Jennifer Lopez may be ‘subpoened to testify under oath’ for Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs’ trial

Jennifer Lopez and Sean “P. Diddy” Combs have a history. They met on Lopez’s music video set for “If You Had My Love” in 1999 and started dating shortly after. Combs and his long-term girlfriend, Kim Porter, broke up that year. Lopez and Combs dated until 2001. Combs said in the past that he knew he would never marry Lopez because he was still in love with Porter. As for Lopez, she hated that Combs cheated on her during their short romance.

Now, it looks like Lopez may get a call from Combs’ lawyers. An expert told In Touch Weekly that Lopez may possess “firsthand knowledge” due to the New York City nightclub shooting that she and Combs were a part of in 1999.

“Jennifer Lopez’s presence the night of the shooting incident and then departing in the same vehicle as Combs makes her a witness with firsthand knowledge and could subject her to being subpoenaed to testify under oath,” New York lawyer Pete Gleason said. “If there are any criminal charges or civil claims not outside the statute of limitations, this would likely prove problematic for Lopez.”

So, what happened in 1999? Lopez; Combs; Combs’ bodyguard, Anthony “Wolf” Jones; and 21-year-old rapper Jamal “Shyne” Barrow were at Club New York in Manhattan when a disagreement broke out. Three people were left injured by gunfire. Combs, Lopez, and Jones fled the scene, and police found a stolen gun inside of their vehicle. Natania Reuben was shot during the altercation and maintains in 2024 that Combs shot her. Combs and Lopez were arrested and detained, but all charges were later dropped against Lopez.

Jennifer Lopez described the nightclub shooting as a ‘complete nightmare’

Attorney Says It’s ‘Very Possible’ That ‘Charges Will Be Filed’ Against Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs Following Raid

Jennifer Lopez spoke about the nightclub shooting to British Elle in July 2000.

“It was a complete nightmare from beginning to end,” she said, according to Yahoo. “I was scared to death in the car. I had absolutely no idea what was going on. No one did.”

A source told DailyMail.com that Lopez feels “disturbed” by the current allegations against Sean “P. Diddy” Combs

“Not that people forget, but her relationship with him several years ago had its tumultuous ups and downs,” the source said. “What he has done and what he has been accused of is heartbreaking. It is disgusting for her to see that someone, who at one point in her life was someone she put so much trust in, has ended up turning into a very damaged human being. It is disturbing to see.”

She might be able to ‘provide relevant testimony’ in April Lampros’ case against Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs

New York lawyer Pete Gleason told In Touch Weekly that Jennifer Lopez may “provide relevant testimony” in April Lampos’ case against Sean “P. Diddy” Combs. Lampros met Combs as a student at New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology in 1994. She claims Combs sexually assaulted her four times from the mid-90s to the early 2000s when he was dating Lopez.

“While the mid-90s were the infancy of today’s technology, a footprint of communication could still exist,” Gleason said. “Regardless, anyone is subject to a subpoena if they can provide relevant testimony.”
