When Jennifer Lopez married Ben Affleck in 2021, she made sure to get on Jennifer Garner’s good side. Garner and Affleck married in 2005, just a handful of years after Affleck and Lopez ended their engagement. Though the pair divorced, they still have a friendly relationship and co-parent their three children. As Garner is still an important part of Affleck’s life, Lopez had to learn to get along with her. She reportedly won Garner over before her wedding day.

When Lopez and Affleck got back together in 2021, she became another important Jennifer in his life. He is still on good terms with Garner. As they share three children who would now become a part of Lopez’s life, it was important that she be friendly with Garner. Fortunately, they reportedly get along well.
“Now that Jen and Jen have been co-parenting, they’ve been getting to know each other better and have formed a very new friendship,” a source told Us Weekly, adding, “She fully supports their relationship and wants nothing more than for him to be happy.”
Garner reportedly gave Affleck her approval when he first rekindled his romance with Lopez. Lopez also thought highly of Affleck’s ex-wife.
“J. Lo has Jennifer Garner’s seal of approval,” a source said in 2021. “J. Lo thinks Jennifer is a kind and wonderful person and an amazing mother.”

Affleck and Lopez both have children from other marriages, and they’ve worked to bring their families together. Through this, Lopez has witnessed Affleck and Garner’s co-parenting dynamic and has said she admires it.
“[Garner is] an amazing co-parent, and they work really well together,” Lopez told Vogue in 2022.
Lopez said that bringing their children together had to be handled carefully, and she was happy that they seemed to be successfully achieving this.
“The transition is a process that needs to be handled with so much care,” she explained. “They have so many feelings. They’re teens. But it’s going really well so far. What I hope to cultivate with our family is that his kids have a new ally in me and my kids have a new ally in him, someone who really loves and cares about them but can have a different perspective and help me see things that I can’t see with my kids because I’m so emotionally tied up.”
She reportedly dislikes the way her husband turns to his ex-wife for advice
Though Lopez and Garner reportedly get along, some sources say that the former resents her husband’s close relationship with his ex-wife. As rumors swirl about an impending divorce between Lopez and Affleck, he has turned to Garner for support.
“J. Lo hates that Ben goes back to his sensible, down-to-earth ex-wife for advice and emotional support,” an insider told OK! Magazine. “She doesn’t want Jen’s input.”
Garner and Affleck spent Father’s Day together this year. At this point, though, neither Lopez nor Affleck has confirmed the rumors about their marriage.
