Jennifer Lopez has had several high-profile relationships during her career, with Ben Affleck as her most notable husband to date. Lopez and Affleck got engaged in 2002, but they broke off the engagement in 2004. They rekindled their flame in 2021 and tied the knot in 2022. Before dating Affleck, Lopez dated Sean “P. Diddy” Combs from 1999 to 2001. Now, we’re looking back at when she joked about not wanting to save either Combs or Affleck from drowning.

Jennifer Lopez’s relationship with Ben Affleck is heavily in the spotlight as divorce rumors ramp up in 2024. And Lopez’s past romance with Sean “P. Diddy” Combs has new legs in light of the Homeland Security raid on two of his properties in March 2024.

Lopez and Combs didn’t appear to leave their romance on a happy note. They dated for two years until calling it quits in 2001. Lopez discussed how Combs allegedly cheated on her during their relationship, resulting in the breakup. Combs explained that while he liked Lopez’s energy, he still loved Kim Porter.

Lopez and Affleck’s first engagement ended mainly due to the intense media attention they received. Lopez also explained that she didn’t feel mature enough to take on the role of Affleck’s wife.

After Lopez’s relationship with Combs and first romance with Affleck, she was asked in an interview with Big Boy TV if she would save either of them from drowning.

“You look in the ocean, you see two people floating,” interviewer Kurt Alexander said, as seen on TikTok. “You can only pull up one because that’s how much room you have on your raft,” Alexander explains that Affleck and Combs are floating in the hypothetical ocean.

Lopez began laughing hysterically at the question. “I’d let both of those motherf***ers drown,” she said. “I’m just joking, Ben, Puffy! You know I love you!”

Jennifer Lopez Is Willing to Give Up ‘Being J.Lo’ to Save Marriage to Ben Affleck, Friend Says

Jennifer Lopez and Sean “P. Diddy” Combs were once an iconic couple. While their relationship only lasted two years, they became close. However, Lopez didn’t like Combs when she met him. She knew she and Combs had fundamental differences.

“He was larger than life, but at first, I didn’t like him at all,” Lopez said in an interview on YouTube. ” … I thought he was, like, you know, ick. I didn’t like him because Sean and I were very different that way; I was very family-oriented and kind of the married type.”

Post-breakup, Combs commented on why he could never marry Lopez — and it was all about Kim Porter. “I got caught up in the hype a little bit,” Combs said, according to a YouTube clip. “Jennifer, she definitely a bad chick. But I was still in love with Kim, you know what I’m saying? I couldn’t marry Jennifer if I was still in love with Kim.”

She and Ben Affleck are reportedly headed for divorce in 2024

Jennifer Lopez and Sean “P. Diddy” Combs were never meant to be. However, fans loved it when Ben Affleck and Lopez rekindled their flame in 2021 and tied the knot in 2022. Unfortunately, divorce rumors loom in 2024. Lopez and Affleck reportedly have fundamental differences in what they want career-wise and how much they wish to be in the public eye.

A source told Us Weekly that Lopez feels “committed to working on the marriage” and wants to work through their issues. However, it’s unclear how committed Affleck feels to putting in additional work.

“Some believe they can work it out with time and effort, pointing to their deep bond,” another source said. “Others think the relationship has run its course.”
