Jennifer Lopez has been a celebrity for years, but she admits she is still star-struck by some of her co-stars. Over the years, Lopez has worked with Hollywood legends. While she thinks she can hold her own with these stars, she admitted there have been some people who have made her nervous. She shared the “silly” reason one of her co-stars intimidated her.

Jennifer Lopez said she felt intimidated around one of her co-stars

In 2005, Lopez starred in Monster-in-Law alongside Jane Fonda. She admitted that meeting Fonda was a bit nerve-wracking for her.

“You’re not beyond being intimidated by people I don’t think ever, especially when you respect them and you know their name – you know who they are,” she told IGN in 2005. “It doesn’t intimidate me to the point where I can’t do what I have to, but you do get the butterflies when Jane Fonda walks in the room. You’re like, ‘Holy s***, it’s Jane Fonda.’”

Lopez said the reason she was so starstruck by Fonda was a bit “silly.” She had grown up watching Fonda’s movies and had always enjoyed some of her onscreen fashion moments.

“You can’t help that, because you’re used to seeing them like huge on the big screen and all that kind of stuff,” she said. “One of my favorites is Barbarella like everybody else, and Klute, in a way, it’s like a fashion icon to me. You know, for when she takes off her helmet and the hair and the whole thing. It’s silly I know, but that’s why.”

Jennifer Lopez said she didn’t worry about her famous co-stars upstaging her

While Lopez said meeting Fonda was intimidating, she didn’t worry about being overshadowed in their scenes together. She felt the same way about Wanda Sykes, who was also in the film. She said they were able to play off of each other in a satisfying way.

“I always love when everybody else is really bringing their game, because it’s only going to make the movie better,” she said. “It just makes you work harder and they work harder and everybody is trying to get their little bit in. It’s competitive in a constructive way. All of us got along really well and I know you guys hear that all the time, it’s so boring, but it’s true – we did.”

She said she greatly enjoyed working with both women.

“Jane and I really had a great respect for one another and we really got to like each other and know each other. She’s a lovely woman,” Lopez said. “Wanda is so nice and just crazy and funny and you just want to be around her always in between takes because she’s that funny.”

Jane Fonda continued to be a part of Lopez’s life after shooting ‘Monster-in-Law’

Years after shooting Monster-in-Law, Fonda appeared in Lopez’s film This Is Me Now: A Love Story. Before agreeing to be in the movie, Fonda reached out with concerns about Lopez’s relationship with Ben Affleck.

“I want you to know that I don’t entirely know why, but I feel invested in you and Ben, and I really want this to work,” Fonda said, per Variety. “However, this is my concern. Like, it feels too much like you’re trying to prove something instead of just living it. You know, every other photograph is the two of you kissing and the two of you hugging.”

Lopez insisted that her relationship was not just for show and Fonda agreed to be in the movie.
