Jennifer Lopez’s body has gained her a lot of attention over the years. When she first rose to fame, people discussed her curves, and she embraced the way she looked. She said that her body type paved the way for people like the Kardashians.

In a 2016 appearance on Watch What Happens Live, host Andy Cohen asked Lopez if she thought “the Kardashians stole your jam with having a great a**?”
“I think I paved the way for them,” she responded, per W Magazine. “Just another innovation that I’ve given to the world!”
In the early years of her career, Lopez embraced the way people spoke about her body. When asked what she wanted to be known as she said she hoped people would reference her posterior.
“The first thing that came into my head was the ‘Butt’ Girl because that separates me from everyone else,” she told Movieline in 1998. “I love my body. I really, really dig my curves. It’s all me and men love it. Some guys like skinny girls, but they’re missing out.”
She believed that her body set her apart from her peers.
“When a dress is on a woman, it shouldn’t look like it’s on a coat hanger,” she said. “So many girls here are so thin — in fact nobody else in Hollywood really has my type of body. My husband calls it ‘La Guitarra,’ like the shape of a guitar, which I love because that was always my ideal woman growing up. So, call me the ‘Guitar Girl’! Or maybe the Wow Girl.”

Lopez said she has been curvy for most of her life. She said she became aware of attention on her from a very young age.
“I had a very voluptuous body from the time I was 11,” she said. “My mother used to say, ‘I’m so worried about Jennifer because she’s so sexy. I’m afraid she’s going to get pregnant.’ The taste in my neighborhood was for voluptuous women, see? I knew guys liked me.”
Still, she considered herself a late bloomer.
“Back then, in the third, fourth grade, there were girls who already had tits and boyfriends, they were always kissing in the school closet. Not me,” she said. “I was more of a late bloomer, like I didn’t get into it until seventh grade, 12 years old.”
Ben Affleck said she eats what she wants
Lopez’s former husband, Ben Affleck, said Lopez is able to maintain her figure while still eating what she wants.
“Let me tell you something that’s going to upset you,” Affleck said on The Drew Barrymore Show. “Jennifer just eats whatever she wants. Whatever she wants — pizza, cookies, ice cream.”
She works out, but Affleck believes Lopez has something that sets her apart from others.
“She works out. I work out, too! But I don’t magically appear to be 20 years old, you know what I mean, with the perfect skin and the whole thing,” he said. “There’s no taking away the work ethic. The work ethic is real; the discipline is very real. But also, the superhuman thing is real. She’s the most gorgeous woman in the world. She looks spectacular.”
