Jennifer Lopez, Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs, and A-Rod’s Instagram Live in 2020 Raises Eyebrows After Combs’ Arrest
Hip-hop star Sean “P. Diddy” Combs is back in the spotlight after Homeland Security raided two of his properties in March 2024. Following the raids, police arrested Combs in September 2024. Now, we’re looking back at an Instagram Live segment involving Combs, Jennifer Lopez, and Alex Rodriguez in 2020, which has garnered renewed interest. Here’s what happened.
Jennifer Lopez, Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs, and Alex Rodriguez went on Instagram Live in 2020
Jennifer Lopez and Sean “P. Diddy” Combs have a long history. The stars met in the late ’90s while working on Lopez’s music video, and while they didn’t have a romantic connection at first, they grew to fall in love. By 1999, Lopez and Combs were dating. Unfortunately, in 2001, they parted ways, but they remained friendly through the years.
In April 2020, Lopez and baseball star Alex Rodriguez were preparing to tie the knot. She and Rodriguez joined Combs on Instagram Live. Combs was hosting a “dance-a-thon” to raise money for coronavirus (COVID-19) efforts. During the live segment, which went on for 10 minutes, Lopez and Combs had a great time as they danced virtually. Lopez also told Combs that Rodriguez is Combs’ “biggest fan.” Combs brought two sons into the live segment to dance with him at one point.
At the time, fans of Combs and Lopez loved that the exes joined Instagram Live. However, fans have different opinions of the happy reunion in the wake of Combs’ arrest in 2024.
“They were all celebrating him until he got caught,” a YouTuber commented on a recording of the Instagram Live segment.
“This was not a good move for J.Lo now that everything is getting exposed about Diddy,” another YouTuber wrote. “Had she stayed away from Diddy, then she might be seen as someone who was also a victim, but her talking to him as if he is an old friend makes her look sus.”

Sean “P. Diddy” Combs might face life in prison after his arrest in September 2024. He was charged with racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. Combs pleaded not guilty to the charges.
“He has never run from a challenge, and he will not run from this one,” his lawyer said, according to CNN. “Instead, he takes these challenges head on. He moves toward them confidently and with the assurances that right is on his side.”
Combs was denied bail and will remain in custody. He will stay at the Special Housing Unit in the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn until he appears in court on Wednesday, Sept. 18.
Jennifer Lopez allegedly feels ‘tremendously disappointed’ with the hip-hop mogul’s conduct
Jennifer Lopez hasn’t publicly discussed the allegations against Sean “P. Diddy” Combs. However, a source said Lopez is “aware” of Combs’ wrongdoings, especially regarding his ex, Casandra “Cassie” Ventura.
“Among everything else that Jen is dealing with in her life, she is aware and has seen what Diddy did and is tremendously disappointed,” a source told DailyMail.com.
The insider noted that Lopez will not insert herself in a “conversation” about Combs “on purpose.” If others ask her about it, “she will cross that path as and when it happens.”
“It is disgusting for her to see that someone, who at one point in her life was someone she put so much trust in, has ended up turning into a very damaged human being,” the insider continued. “It is disturbing to see.”
