What Time Is Jennifer Lopez and Shakira’s Super Bowl Halftime Show?
The biggest day of the year for football is upon us. Super Bowl LIV is about to take place in Miami Gardens, Florida. Across the country, NFL fans will tune in to watch the San Francisco 49ers face off against the Kansas City Chiefs.
If you’re not all that invested in the actual game, and you’re just there for the snacks and the halftime show, we’ve got you covered. This year, the show will be sponsored by JAY-Z’s Roc Nation x Pepsi.
Superstars Jennifer Lopez and Shakira have teamed up to give us dazzling performances. Here’s what we know about the show including the entertainers’ alleged feud, what time the show will begin and how long it will run.
Jennifer Lopez and Shakira have planned their Super Bowl halftime show meticulously
Since the moment they were confirmed as the Super Bowl halftime show performers — Lopez and Shakira have been plotting and planning to deliver the perfect halftime show. “I am excited,” Lopez said in Variety‘s “Actors on Actors” series. “I think there’s not a musical artist in the world that doesn’t dream of performing at the Super Bowl.”
This isn’t just a big moment for the careers of these women, but also for Latinx performers and entertainers as a whole. “We’re both excited to have been given the opportunity to do that, as two Latin women, in Miami,” the Hustlers actress revealed. “I think it’s important in this day and age for two Latin women to be standing on that stage — when Latinos are being treated a certain way in this country, or looked at a certain way — to show that we have a really specific and beautiful culture and worth and value, and we bring something to this country that’s necessary.”
Jennifer Lopez and Shakira have had a bit of tension over their Super Bowl halftime show
Preparing for such a big event has made things a bit tense for the women. “As usual with these Super Bowl performances, the performers are having trouble fitting their set into the time constraints,” an insider told Love B. Scott. “Right now, the halftime show in the works is running way longer than the allotted time. The NFL, along with the powers-that-be are trying to solve the issue. There were initial plans for them to perform a significant portion of the halftime show together — but that’s out the window. As of now, they’re just planning to appear briefly together at the end of the set. There isn’t any real feud, but there’s definitely a chill in the air between the two stars.”
Still, despite any tension, we know they will deliver an epic show.
This is when Shakira and Jennifer Lopez’s Super Bowl halftime show will begin
When it comes to a Super Bowl — timing can get a tad tricky. After all, we’re pretty much at the mercy of the game and anything that might occur. Technically a football game is 60 minutes, with four 15-minute quarters. However, when we add in penalties, time outs, commercials, and everything else, the Super Bowl runs between three to four hours. The kick-off is slated to happen at 6:30 p.m. ET.
Halftime occurs after the second quarter so technically, Lopez and Shakira should hit the stage around 8:15 p.m. ET. but that’s tentative. We suggest having your snacks in hand and turning on your TV around 8:10 p.m. ET so you don’t miss a thing.
Super Bowl LIV airs on Sunday, Feb. 2 on Fox.
