Jennifer Lopez Subtly Shut Down Rumors That Jennifer Garner Is Avoiding Her
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez are set to divorce after two years of marriage. The couple rekindled their flame in 2021 after initially falling for each other in the early 2000s. During Affleck’s marital strife, he found comfort in his first ex-wife, Jennifer Garner. Now that Lopez and Affleck are officially over, sources suggest that Lopez and Garner want nothing to do with each other. However, Lopez and Garner seemed to dispel this myth in December 2024.
Jennifer Lopez and Jennifer Garner just shut down rumors that they don’t communicate
Jennifer Garner and Jennifer Lopez were friendly during Lopez’s marriage to Ben Affleck. However, after Lopez served Affleck divorce papers in August 2024, a source suggested that Garner didn’t want further contact with Lopez unless it was about their kids.
“Jen no longer wishes to have communication with J.Lo unless it is do with the kids,” a source told DailyMail.com. “Her friends feel she shouldn’t have allowed herself to get so involved in helping J.Lo to fix her marriage to Ben, especially considering Jen felt pitted against J.Lo at times during their own marriage. Jen is too nice and truly wanted to help, so she tried.”
In mid-December 2024, Lopez and Garner dispelled these rumors by attending a play with Affleck and Garner’s child, Fin, and Lopez’s child, Emme, performing. Photos obtained by TMZ showed Affleck, Lopez, and Garner smiling together as they supported their kids. TMZ reports that it’s unclear if the adults had much interaction. However, Affleck was seen speaking to Emme, so it appears he maintains a good relationship with Lopez’s twins.
Affleck and Lopez are still finalizing their divorce. And they didn’t spend Thanksgiving together. Affleck opted to spend the holiday with Garner and their three kids. Affleck and Garner were also spotted picking up bagels after the holiday before heading over to Affleck’s place.
Ben Affleck allegedly has an ‘open-door policy’ with Jennifer Lopez’s kids
Having a blended family was important to Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez when they tied the knot. Now that they plan to go their separate ways, Affleck allegedly has an “open-door policy” for Lopez’s kids.
“The biggest casualty of their breakup are the kids, of course,” an insider told Closer Weekly. “Ben’s children love Jennifer, and her kids adore Ben. The new home is bittersweet because the kids see it as an end of their blended family. All the kids have bonded.”
The source added that Lopez and Affleck “vowed to stay supportive” of their kids spending time together. “Ben says his home has an open-door policy for Emme and Max, and I’m sure Jennifer will do the same when she finds her new home,” they continued.
Jennifer Garner wants her kids to experience ‘little trauma’ from another divorce
Jennifer Garner discussed how divorce might impact her kids when separating from Ben Affleck. Now, she has to consider it again with Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s divorce. A source told Life & Style that Garner’s biggest priority is her children, and she wants them to experience “little trauma” with yet another permanent separation.
“Jen [Garner] can be very easy on Ben, but privately, even she admits he’s taken up a lot of her time, especially because they’ve had so much parenting to deal with,” the source explained. “Helping the kids get through another divorce with as little trauma as possible has been Jen’s priority.”
Given Garner’s alleged stance on protecting her children, it makes sense that she’d put on a welcoming face with Lopez while attending a play containing both of their kids.
