Aliette Hernandez Carolan, Esq., family law attorney and founder of The Quick Divorce, told Showbiz Cheat Sheet that Lopez will handle any backlash with “grace and poise,” as she’s a seasoned entertainment industry veteran.
“In the entertainment world, every headline counts, and I suspect we’ll hear a lot about this split in the coming weeks,” Carolan told Showbiz Cheat Sheet on Aug. 22, 2024. “But let’s be clear — J.Lo owes no one an apology for her feelings, past or present. She’s a master at navigating public opinion, and she’ll handle any backlash with the same grace and poise that has made her a global icon.”
Emily M. Austen, leader of the PR agency EMERGE, said, “Backlash against J.Lo has for sure been bubbling for awhile,” according to DailyMail.com. “In the last decade, despite her love life being well broadcasted, there was still an air of mystery around her as a mega superstar.”
“The big challenge with a star like J.Lo is staying power,” Austen continued. “As her fans have grown older with her, she’s not done a good enough job of engaging with new fans and bringing them on the journey with her.”

PR expert Lauren Beeching told The Sun that Jennifer Lopez likely ‘fears’ rumors being spread about her on social media.
“If there is a split, the public perception could quickly turn against Jennifer or Ben,” Beeching explained. “This all hinges on the narrative that is coming out at the moment. If infidelity or personal issues are publicly aired, it could tarnish their reputations. Otherwise, a split could pose a significant risk to their financial assets amid all the intense scrutiny.”
Beeching added that Lopez’s “biggest fear would be rumors spreading on social media” amid her divorce from Affleck.
“If there is a divorce, her image and brand might suffer negative publicity, impacting sales and partnerships,” the PR expert continued. “Jennifer should focus on maintaining her image throughout this process. Jennifer could shift the narrative from her relationship status to reminding the public that she is J.Lo. She could consider bringing one of her children to red carpets if they feel comfortable.”
Ben Affleck allegedly knew that his marriage ‘was a mistake’
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez haven’t spoken publicly about their impending divorce just yet. However, a source told Life & Style that Affleck asked for space from Lopez in March 2024. It then became clear that the marriage “was a mistake.”
“This has been a long time coming,” the source said. “Jen and Ben have been separated since March when the marriage began to really fall apart and Ben asked for space.”
The source added that Lopez thinks Affleck is “being an insensitive brat” and playing “brutal mind games” with her by not properly communicating. “She’s not going to take being treated so poorly anymore,” the insider added. “J.Lo’s ready to fight — this means war.”
