Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez reached an agreement in their divorce settlement. Lopez served Affleck divorce papers in August 2024 after two years of marriage, and the exes remained amicable in their split. Now that they’ve finalized their split, here’s what they decided to do with their personal belongings, which included Lopez’s $5 million engagement ring.

Jennifer Lopez gets to keep her $5 million engagement ring in divorce settlement from Ben Affleck

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez have been working on settling their divorce since August 2024. In January 2024, the exes decided who got what in the settlement. According to documents, Affleck and Lopez each keep everything they individually acquired before they tied the knot in 2022, which includes their earnings. Affleck also doesn’t have to give Lopez a cut from his production company, Artists Equity, which he shares with Matt Damon. Neither Lopez nor Affleck will pay spousal support.

The settlement notes that Lopez and Affleck get to keep their own clothing, jewelry, and personal items. According to DailyMail.com, Lopez keeps the $5 million engagement ring Affleck bought her. The ring contains a large green diamond surrounded by two long baguette diamonds and two matching trapezoid diamonds.

Given that Affleck first proposed to Lopez in 2002, Lopez has received two engagement rings from the Gone Girl actor. The first engagement ring contained a pink diamond with an estimated value of $2.5 million at the time.

The couple’s lack of a prenuptial agreement likely made dividing their assets trickier than it could’ve been with a prenup. Together, Lopez and Affleck had $550 million. Lopez’s individual wealth stands around $400 million, meaning most of the couple’s wealth was hers.

Jennifer Lopez’s green diamond engagement ring from Ben Affleck wowed diamond experts. According to experts, the 8.5-carat natural green diamond was worth between $5 million and $10 million and was “incredibly rare.”

“If that is indeed a green diamond, then I am stunned,” The Diamond Pro CEO Mike Fried told Page Six Style in April 2022, the same month that Affleck popped the question. “A green diamond of that size is incredibly rare and would dwarf the value of their previous engagement ring. I would value the ring well over $5 million and could be worth more than $10 million.”

Rare Carat COO Apeksha Kothari spoke to Page Six Style about the rarity of the diamond. “This fancy shade occurs in less than 0.1% of natural diamonds,” Kothari explained. “Green diamonds are much rarer than white diamonds — and the particular chemical formation that makes diamonds green tends to make it hard to find a [one] fit for an engagement ring in sizes above 1 carat.” Kothari added that she has only come across “a handful like it” after a decade in the industry.

Jennifer Lopez ‘wants to close the door’ on the romance

Jennifer Lopez is ready to move forward after her divorce from Ben Affleck. A source told People she “wants to close the door” on the dead romance.

“The fairy tale she was promised turned out to be a nightmare in the end,” the source explained. “She’s in a really good place and just wants to close the door on this crazy chapter.”

While Affleck and Lopez will move forward separately, a source told Page Six that they intend on staying in each other’s lives in some capacity, especially because their children became friends.

“They have every intention of continuing to be in each other’s lives despite not being romantically involved,” the source alleged.
