Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez are officially going through divorce proceedings. Lopez filed for divorce in August 2024, as she and Affleck allegedly agreed that she’d be the one to pull the trigger on the end of their marriage. A source recently said that Lopez’s friends and family see a “major shift” in her attitude post-filing.

Jennifer Lopez’s friends and family allegedly see a ‘major shift’ in her attitude a month after her divorce filing

Jennifer Lopez hoped to see her marriage to Ben Affleck last. The exes first fell in love in the early 2000s before calling off their engagement in 2004. They both went on to have other marriages and later reunited in 2021. Lopez and Affleck fell in love again and tied the knot in 2022. Unfortunately, just two years later, Lopez filed for divorce.

A source told People in August 2024 that Lopez feels “upset and disappointed” with Affleck. “It’s really hit her hard,” the insider noted.

As of October 2024, another source claimed that Lopez is ready to move forward with her life post-Affleck. A source told Life & Style that “friends and family have noticed a major shift” in Lopez’s attitude. “She decided to do some introspection — she says four divorces will do that. Get ready for an all-new J.Lo — she wants to start a new chapter.”

The source added that Lopez felt “overprotective” of Affleck and his history of alcoholism, adding tension to their romance. “That backfired by making him resentful, adding more stress to their marriage,” the insider noted. “Now, Ben is panicking. He’s afraid she’s sharing too much and is making him look like the bad guy in the relationship.”

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck put their kids first in their marriage and want to ensure their children are as unaffected as possible. In mid-September 2024, Affleck and Lopez took their kids to brunch at the Polo Lounge in the Beverly Hills Hotel. Bennifer fans hoped this meant the exes might get back together, as they allegedly packed on the PDA.

Unfortunately for fans, Lopez and Affleck still intend to proceed with their divorce. A source told RadarOnline that Affleck is “laying” his charm on “thick” with Lopez to soften the blow.

“They’re not getting back together,” the source said. “He’s just trying to make this breakup as clean as possible. He’s laying it on a little thick because he doesn’t want the divorce to blow up. One might say he’s toying with her.”

The insider added that Affleck keeps his kids as his “No. 1 priority.”

“They’re stuck in the middle, so the less combative this divorce is, the better it is for the children,” they noted. “That’s Ben’s No. 1 priority here – the kids.”

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s lack of a prenup ‘complicates things’

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck reportedly did not have a prenuptial agreement when they tied the knot. A source told In Touch Weekly that the exes are having trouble dividing their assets. Lopez and Affleck have their $60 million Beverly Hills mansion and Affleck’s production company to discuss.

“They had no prenup, which complicates things, and what’s at stake are the assets they acquired together during their marriage — the $60 million house they’ve listed for $68 million, and the production company Artists Equity Ben formed with Matt Damon two years ago, which Jennifer also has a stake in,” an insider said.

Lopez allegedly also “wants to get her investment back” in their mansion, as she invested a lot of money in the initial purchase and renovations. The Beverly Hills property remains on the market for $68 million.
