Jennifer Lopez’s Link to Diddy Is ‘Damaging Her Own Health’ as She Proceeds With Ben Affleck Divorce, Source Says
The media continues to cover hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs’ arrest as 2025 approaches. Federal agents arrested Combs in September 2024. He now faces charges of racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. Jennifer Lopez dated Combs in the early 2000s and maintained a friendship with him. Thus far, she has not publicly spoken about his arrest. And a source revealed she doesn’t intend to make any statements.
Jennifer Lopez is ‘on the run’ from answering questions about Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs
Jennifer Lopez has had a difficult 2024. After two years of marriage, she filed for divorce from Ben Affleck in August 2024. She and Affleck continue through their divorce proceedings without a prenup. And she’s fielding questions about Sean “Diddy” Combs.
Combs and Lopez dated from 1999 to 2001 and maintained a friendship after they split. Lopez hasn’t commented on Combs’ arrest.
“Jennifer knows everyone is asking what she knew about Diddy — and it’s clear she’s on the run from answering any of it,” a source told RadarOnline. “Her links to him resurfacing are a PR disaster for her and damaging her own health, as it’s adding to her already massive stress levels as she goes through her divorce from Affleck. But sooner or later, she is going to have to sit down and say what she knew — as she could even be called as a witness at Diddy’s trial.”
New York lawyer Pete Gleason told In Touch Weekly that Lopez’s presence at the 1999 New York nightclub shooting with Combs might put her in a precarious situation now. “Jennifer Lopez’s presence the night of the shooting incident and then departing in the same vehicle as Combs makes her a witness with firsthand knowledge and could subject her to being subpoenaed to testify under oath,” Gleason explained.
A former staffer who worked with Jennifer Lopez says Lopez ‘did not have any idea about Diddy’
Those who worked with Jennifer Lopez in the past have come to her defense online. Thea de Sousa, a staff member who worked on Maid In Manhattan, posted to Threads about Lopez. The staffer called the singer/dancer/actor a “workaholic” who didn’t know about Sean “Diddy” Combs’ crimes.
“If you knew Jennifer Lopez, if you ever worked with her like I did, or if you were close with people who are like family to her like I am, you would know she did not have any idea about Diddy,” Sousa wrote, according to DailyMail.com. “She barely drinks, she is not a partier, she isn’t a good time girl, she is a workaholic who uplifts a woman and who was charmed by him for a brief time in her life.”
Unfortunately, another source told In Touch Weekly that Combs might have expected Lopez to stand by him. The source added that Lopez feels “legitimate fear” that Combs could “embarrass” her by revealing “intimate” details.
J.Lo and Ben Affleck ‘have been trying to hash out a settlement for months,’ a source says
While Jennifer Lopez is dealing with Sean “Diddy” Combs’ legal battle, she’s also finalizing her divorce from Ben Affleck. In a recent interview with Interview Magazine, Lopez appears sure of her decision to move forward as a single woman. However, according to DailyMail.com, dividing assets hasn’t been easy.
According to insiders in August 2024, Lopez and Affleck “have been trying to hash out a settlement for months. Unfortunately, negotiations were becoming “increasingly acrimonious.” Additionally, their unsold Beverly Hills mansion threw a wrench into their divorce.
