Jennifer Lopez has worked with her producing partner, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, for years. They’ve worked together on a number of films and have become close friends in the process. Goldsmith-Thomas said that Lopez proved how much their relationship meant to her after she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Jennifer Lopez’s producing partner shared how Lopez helped her in a time of need

Lopez and Goldsmith-Thomas have worked together for years, teaming up on films like Maid in Manhattan, The Boy Next Door, Hustlers, Marry Me, and more. Goldsmith-Thomas has celebrated Lopez’s career and supported her projects, even when she doesn’t fully understand them.

She said that Lopez has also done a great deal for her. In 2004, Goldsmith-Thomas was diagnosed with Stage Three breast cancer. Lopez did all she could to support her friend and partner.

“She made me very popular on the chemo ward!” Goldsmith told Vanity Fair. “She’d bring clothing for everyone from her Sweetface line and she’d rub my bald head and talk about dreams.”

Goldsmith-Thomas said some of the conversations she had with Lopez felt like a lifeline.

“It was really important to talk about the future because she wanted me to know there was one,” she said. “That girl saved my life.”

Jennifer Lopez’s producing partner doesn’t think the artist gets the respect she deserves

Goldsmith-Thomas has worked with Lopez through various stages of her career. Lopez has clearly enjoyed success as an actor and singer, which Goldsmith-Thomas credits to her unbeatable work ethic

“I think she looks at life as an opportunity to live — you rest when you die,” Goldsmith-Thomas told Harper’s Bazaar. “But she’s in a great place in her life.”

Still, Goldsmith-Thomas doesn’t think Lopez gets as much respect as she deserves.

“We devalue women who do more than one thing,” she said. “Jennifer has actually been an exception to the rule, but I don’t think she gets the credit she deserves.”

One of her closest friends is Leah Remini

Another one of Lopez’s close friends is actor Leah Remini. The pair met at a movie premiere in 2004. Remini hoped Lopez wouldn’t be as impressive as she seemed from a distance. While she was just as pretty and smart as she portrayed herself to be, they still became fast friends

“Her sense of humor, the fact that I could bust her balls and she wasn’t caught up on herself, said something to me,” Remini told Entertainment Tonight.

Lopez said that she felt an immediate chemistry and connection with Remini.

“It was one of those instant chemistry things, where you just feel like, ‘I love this person. I love being around this person. This person makes me laugh,'” Lopez said. “She’s cool and we also have very similar upbringings. That’s why we work well together.”

In recent years, however, Lopez and Remini have reportedly had a falling out over Lopez’s relationship with Ben Affleck.
