As of mid-2024, insiders suggest Affleck and Lopez no longer want to stay married. Additional sources in August 2024 suggest Lopez’s close friends, including her longtime manager, Benny Medina, don’t approve of Affleck — and this isn’t the first time sources have alleged this.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck date back to the early 2000s. The couple fell in love on the set of Gigli and got engaged in 2002. They broke up in 2004, but they found their way back to each other in 2021 and tied the knot in 2022.
Benny Medina, Lopez’s manager, has known Lopez longer than Affleck has. Medina launched Lopez’s pop music career in 1999 and spent ample time together in 2024. Lopez and Medina have experienced conflict in the past, with Lopez firing Medina in 2003. However, he resumed his role as her manager in 2008.
Sources spoke to RadarOnline in 2022 about Medina and Lopez’s relationship. “Benny has been by Jennifer’s side since day one,” a source explained. “She credits him with transforming her from a backup dancer to one of the biggest stars in the world. It’s not a coincidence that the only time Jennifer broke up with him was when she was originally dating Ben Affleck, back in 2003.”
The source added, “Ben and Benny hate each other. At the moment, they are playing nice, but there is already tension.” The insider explained that Medina didn’t “appreciate” Affleck “sharing his opinions” regarding what’s best for Lopez’s career.
Another source spoke about Medina and Affleck’s tense relationship in August 2024. “The two of them can’t stand each other,” the insider told Page Six. “They don’t get along, and there’s still bad blood.”

Benny Medina spoke to Vogue in 2012 about Jennifer Lopez’s relationships. At the time, Lopez was dating backup dancer Casper Smart, 18 years younger than her. According to the manager, Lopez wasn’t “oblivious” to how people viewed her.
“She’s not oblivious to her own reality right now, as in, damn, I’m 42 with a 24-year-old. Why? We talked about it yesterday,” Medina told Vogue, according to Celeb Dirty Laundry. “She was just like, ‘It’s not even the age, Benny. It’s actually that I just came out of a relationship where I felt like I was kind of not getting what I needed. And I’m open! So, somebody who steps in right now and is actually touching me in a way — it’s very fertile ground!’”
Medina noted that Lopez thinks she can “actually change who someone is,” which hurts her relationships.
“She never half does anything,” he added. “When she commits to anything in her work, her life, or her relationships, she is in it. … And I think to her detriment, the will of Jennifer is so strong that she believes that it can actually change who someone is and how they relate to her.”

Ben Affleck knows just how close Jennifer Lopez is with her manager, Benny Medina. A source told In Touch Weekly that Lopez and Medina’s relationship puts “strain” on her marriage.
“Being married to Jennifer Lopez feels like being married to Benny Medina, too,” the source shared. “She won’t do anything without her manager and even insisted he accompany her and Ben on their honeymoon!”
As of August 2024, Lopez seems on better terms with Medina than Affleck. Insiders suggest the couple already has divorce papers signed.
