Jennifer Love Hewitt Is Buying a Peloton Since She Just Learned to Ride a Bike In Her 40s
Peloton bikes are all the rage. Jennifer Love Hewitt is the latest celebrity to get in on the craze. She purchased one for her home and is awaiting its delivery. This is even more significant to the 9-1-1 star because she only just learned to ride a bicycle at all.
Hewitt was a guest on Michael Rosenbaum’s Inside of You podcast on June 2. She told Rosenbaum about her attempts to stay in shape during quarantine with two kids and her husband at home.
Jennifer Love Hewitt realized she needed to take some ‘Love’ time
Hewitt is home while 9-1-1 waits to resume production. Her kids are home from school and her husband is home too. Hewitt’s nature made her spread herself too thin for all of them.
“I’ve been having a really hard time with the working out part of it because I have to do three and a half or four hours of school with my daughter every day,” Hewitt told Rosenbaum. “Then when I’m done with that, I have to go do at least a couple hours with my son. Then it’s like lunchtime. I’ve been very hyperfocused on keeping them okay during this time and my husband okay during this time, that I have kind of not been as good to myself.”
She said she’s finally carved out some time for Love.
“This week is the first week where I was like, ‘You know what, family? I love you guys. I’m going to do everything for everybody but I’ve got to give myself some space to take care of myself’ because I was starting to have really bad anxiety attacks again,” she said.
Jennifer Love Hewitt will take breaks with her Peloton
One of Hewitt’s priorities during her personal time is to attend to her fitness. She bought the Peloton and plans to ride it when she’s not otherwise committed.
“I just bought a Peloton bike,” Hewitt said. “It’s on its way. I’m going to start doing that which I’m excited about. I’m getting some sunshine and just trying to take better care of myself.”
Bicycling is a new skill, let alone a Peloton
Learning to ride a bike is a rite of passage for kids. Hewitt’s didn’t go so well and instead scared her off bikes until her adulthood.
“I actually have never learned to ride a bicycle,” Hewitt said. “I tried when I was a kid and I had a really bad experience with my stepdad. He didn’t mean to but he kind of made me feel bad and not so bright for not being able to ride a bike and completely scarred me. So I never got back on a bike again.”
Before the Peloton arrives, Hewitt did get some wheels for practice.
“I just bought myself a Schwinn adult tricycle,” she said. “I have been riding it, I love it [and] I can’t wait to get my training wheels off. My kids think it’s the funniest thing ever because they just power on their bikes. But they are so supportive and they root me on and they love that I’m trying and learning something at my very old age and it’s cute.”
