‘Jeopardy!’ fans take to Instagram following Jonathan Fisher’s loss

Fisher lost to retired college admissions counselor Nancy Donehower in his final Jeopardy! game. With the show making history this season due to back-to-back multiple-game winners, viewers have been following Fisher’s run since he beat Amodio at the quiz board. Many gave him props for his victory stint.

“Congratulations on your great run, Jonathan! Looking forward to seeing you in the TOC [Tournament of Champions]!” a fan posted. “Good job Jonathan! You did great!” another wrote. “Well done Jonathan!” a follower raved. “You had a good run Jonathan. Congratulations on 11 good games,” another noted.

Yet some viewers weren’t fond of the professional actor and gave a hefty congrats to Donehower for besting him in the game.

“Thank you for beating him, Nancy!!!” one wrote. “I can finally watch again!!!” a viewer remarked. “I was rooting for Nancy,” another commented. “So happy to see him go!!! Congrats to Nancy for being an older woman and beating him!!!” a follower posted.

Jonathan Fisher had to overcome ‘Jeopardy!’ fans missing Matt

Since Amodio acquired a bit of a fan following during his winning streak, viewers had a hard time warming to Fisher when he started out and vocalized their sadness over the Ph.D. student’s absence.

“I miss Matt,” a follower commented during Fisher’s run with a crying emoji. “Haven’t had the heart to watch since Matt lost… Maybe soon,” another posted. “Cant compare him to Matt. Sorry,” a viewer wrote.

“I miss Matt. He knew how to play that board and wager. Jonathan lets too many answers get away. How did he possibly beat Matt?” one remarked. “He’s smart, (I say begrudgingly), but he’s no Matt Amodio,” another noted.

Despite having to get past some naysayers and Amodio loyalists, Fisher went on to earn $246,100 during his Jeopardy! stay and tied former champ Arthur Chu for 10th place in most consecutive wins.

‘Jeopardy!’ champ is thankful for the ‘positive’ comments

Following his loss to Donehower, Fisher acknowledged the mixed feedback he’s received during his time on Jeopardy! yet remains focused on the encouraging comments.

“Overall, the reaction has been really great and positive,” Fisher told the Miami Herald. “There are always people, especially anonymously online, that want to tear down your accomplishments, and I’ve seen a bit of that myself. But my reaction to stuff like that is mostly bemusement. The majority reaction has been overwhelmingly positive, from friends and family and from strangers online. It’s been very fun to relive the run through other people’s eyes.”
