‘Jeopardy!’: How Old is Guest Host Mayim Bialik?
Mayim Bialik continues her guest hosting run on the iconic game show Jeopardy! The Big Bang Theory alum has made it clear that she’d love to stay at the legendary lectern permanently and appears to be connecting with contestants and viewers. With her popularity at the podium, fans are curious on some more details on Bialik, including her age.
Mayim Bialik had a major role in ‘Beaches’
Born December 12, 1975, Bialik landed the role of CC, playing Bette Midler’s character as a young girl in the iconic 1988 film Beaches at the young age of 12. Now 45 years old, Bialik still looks fondly on the experience in her acting career.
“I am so honored to have been a part of this movie, which has touched so many lives and hearts,” The Big Bang Theory alum said in 2018 on the movie’s 30th anniversary, according to Today.com. Bialik also noted the film’s Grammy-winning song. “‘The Wind Beneath My Wings’ makes me cry every darn time.”
Bialik’s next big break came in 1990 when she was recruited to play the title role of the NBC sitcom Blossom, about a teenage girl living with her father and two brothers.
“I read the Blossom script and it was the first script I had ever read where I laughed out loud,” Bialik recalled, as reported by Yahoo! Entertainment. “You could tell in that first script, a very unusual sense of humor and it really suited my sense of humor. … There wasn’t another show about girls. … Obviously we had plenty of male characters, but the notion that you could have a TV show about girls was not easy, and the thing that people say is that girls will watch boys and girls will watch girls but boys will only watch boys.”
‘Jeopardy!’ guest host has 2 sons
Bialik was married to Michael Stone from 2003 to 2013 after the two met at UCLA. They have two sons, Miles, 15, and Frederick, 12. Her eldest tipped her off about Jeopardy! being in need of a guest host after the death of legendary host Alex Trebek in November 2020.
“My older son is the one who originally said ‘Did you know they’re looking for Jeopardy! hosts?’” Bialik shared in an interview for the show. “‘I saw on the internet that maybe you should find out’. So, he was really, really proud. He’s very, very excited. He, at his age, knows the impact of this show.”
Her younger son doesn’t seem quite as impressed with his mom’s notoriety, though he acknowledge’s Jeopardy!’s place in television history.
“My 12-year-old’s a little less enthralled in general with me being in the industry,” Bialik explained. “But I think he knows it’s a very iconic thing and mostly he’ll criticize what I look like because that’s what 12-year-olds do.”
Mayim Bialik plays a 39-year-old character on ‘Call Me Kat’
Bialik is gearing up for a second season of the Fox Network sitcom Call Me Kat, where she portrays 39-year-old Kat, a single woman who leaves her job of academia at the University of Louisville and decides to open a cat cafe. Though her parents saved a hefty sum for her wedding one day, Kat uses the money for her feline-themed establishment.
“I think our show is about empowerment for singles,” she remarked. “Society’s changing, and we want to reflect that. But there’s something for everyone, and I think our writers have done a good job [showing that] no one has the perfect life, whether coupled or single.”
Call Me Kat season 2 premieres in 2022 on Fox Network. Bialik is scheduled to guest host Jeopardy! through November 5, 2021.
