‘Jersey Shore: Family Vacation’: Behind the Scenes of Angelina Pivarnick’s Wedding
There has been a lot of drama surrounding Angelina Pivarnick‘s wedding on Jersey Shore — and the episode hasn’t even aired yet. According to a former Jersey Shore story and field producer, the bridesmaid speech given by Deena Cortese, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, and Jenni “JWoww” Farley was a production ploy.
Here’s what supposedly happened behind the scenes of Pivarnick’s wedding.
Angelina is excited for fans to see the episode
MTV cameras were there to capture the magic — er, drama — at Pivarnick’s wedding last November. In a teaser for the episode, Pivarnick says: “Who would have known that eight years ago, we were all going to be together like this — especially all the crazy times we’ve had.” Shortly after, everything fell apart.
Pivarnick is eager for fans to see the wedding episode airing June 4. “It’s been really hard for Angelina even though time has passed since the wedding,” a source close to Pivarnick explained to HollywoodLife. “She’s looking forward to viewers seeing what happened and her side [of the story].”
Most of Pivarnick’s anger seems to stem from the bridesmaid’s speech given by her roommates. “The speech was meant to be funny but came across as pretty mean-spirited,” an insider told E! News, reporting the roommates refer to Pivarnick as “trash.”
According to a former producer, the women of Jersey Shore didn’t have a choice regarding the speech.
Producers reportedly planned Angelina’s wedding speech
A former MTV producer discussed Pivarnick’s wedding on Reddit. “Angelina’s wedding was paid for by the network, production, and sponsors,” the producer said. Since outside parties paid for the wedding, Pivarnick had to sign “iron-clad contracts [like] NDAs [and] non-compete agreements.” Those contracts relinquished Pivarnick’s control of what was filmed that day. More importantly, they gave production total control.
The former producer gave the example of “Production [telling Angelina] that Jenni, Deena, and Nicole would need to be in her bridal party and that they would need to make speeches at her wedding reception.” As a reality television star, Pivarnick probably knew the purpose in doing so. “She was most likely aware that the speeches were going to have a negative slant to end [season 3] on a cliffhanger. In fact, I’m sure of it,” the former Jersey Shore producer added.
The ‘Jersey Shore’ roommates didn’t want to make a speech
Polizzi has spoken out about Pivarnick’s wedding — including not wanting to give a speech. “I literally told producers, ‘I’m not going to do a speech because I’m not comfortable doing one; I don’t think we should be doing one,’” Polizzi told The Ashley Reality Roundup. “We were forced to do something we didn’t want to do.”
The former MTV producer confirmed Polizzi’s statement, saying: “From what I have been told, Jenni, Nicole, and Deena did not want to make speeches. They had a variety of reasons, but felt it was disingenuous because they are not close to [Angelina].” Because of their contracts, the reality stars were required to give a speech at the wedding. However, they only agreed to do so because Pivarnick was given a heads up.
What’s more, production wrote the speeches, according to the former MTV producer. “[They] did specify to Jenni, Nicole, and Deena that Angelina will be okay with what is written because she was made well aware beforehand.”
Despite Pivarnick’s warning, what played out at the wedding seems to be exactly what producers were looking for. Fans will have to tune in to Jersey Shore: Family Vacation on Thursday, June 4, to form their own opinions.
