‘Jersey Shore: Family Vacation’: What Happened to Deena Cortese at Angelina Pivarnick’s Wedding?
The moment Jersey Shore: Family Vacation fans have been waiting for is finally here — Angelina Pivarnick’s wedding. After causing a ruckus with their speech, Pivarnick storms out, demanding MTV cameras to stop filming. Deena Cortese was so upset about the situation, she threatened to never film with Pivarnick again.
Angelina finally becomes part of the ‘Jersey Shore’ family
Until this season, Pivarnick was an outcast. Having left the original series twice, the roommates have spent more time forming their familial bond without Pivarnick around. Despite that, they welcomed her back a third time with open arms. Pivarnick has since become a fixture in the Jersey Shore: Family Vacation series. Her acceptance into the family was made clear throughout season 3, as the cast devoted their time to make every aspect of Pivarnick’s wedding special.
Deena is frustrated with the way Angelina reacted to their speech
After Pivarnick storms out of her wedding, the roommates are hurt and unsure of what’s going on. “I’m just really confused,” Cortese said. “I feel like this happens with Angelina a lot — she blows things out of proportion. She was just laughing and telling us she loved us.”
Later in the night, Cortese tries to apologize to Pivarnick. Unwilling to accept the apology, Pivarnick says “That was distasteful,” further upsetting Cortese — so much so that she says she’ll never film with Pivarnick again.
A former producer says Angelina acted that way on purpose
According to a former producer on the show, Cortese’s frustration stems from Pivarnick knowing about how insensitive the speech was and getting upset anyway. “Production [probably told Angelina] that Jenni, Deena, and Nicole would need to be in her bridal party and that they would need to make speeches at her wedding reception,” the story producer who worked on the first two seasons of the original series posted on Reddit. “[Angelina] was most likely aware that the speeches were going to have a negative slant to end [season 3] on a cliffhanger. In fact, I’m sure of it.”
Believing Pivarnick was aware and accepting of the overly-produced speech, the roommates were only doing what they were asked. “We were forced to do something we didn’t want to do,” Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi told The Ashley Reality Roundup. When their actions backfired, Cortese is understandably upset with production.
Are Deena and Angelina still friends?
With the fallout after her wedding, fans are curious about the status of Pivarnick’s friendships with each of her roommates. Fans are especially interested in Cortese and Pivarnick’s relationship, as they seemed to share the closest bond. According to Pivarnick’s Twitter, she and Cortese are still friends. It’s unclear how Cortese feels at this time.
Will Deena be back for another season of ‘Jersey Shore: Family Vacation’?
Firstly, the fourth season of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation has yet to be confirmed. However, if there is to be another season, Polizzi will not be part of it. She announced her resignation from the show in December 2019. More recently, Jenni “JWoww” Farley announced that she couldn’t do the show without Polizzi.
After the drama that ensued at Pivarnick’s wedding, it’s hard to say whether or not Cortese will want to return to film another season of the reality series. Will Cortese follow in her fellow meatballs steps? As a mother and entrepreneur who is releasing a Mommy-and-Me clothing line, it would be completely understandable if Cortese didn’t return. Alas, only time will tell.
