‘Jersey Shore: Family Vacation’: Everything the Roommates Wrote to Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino in ‘The Shorefather’
Jersey Shore‘s Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino spent eight months in federal prison for tax evasion. The latest season of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation has been dedicated to Sorrentino’s release and homecoming “back to the Jersey Shore.”
In the episode aptly titled “The Shorefather,” the roommates invited Sorrentino and his wife, Lauren Pesce, over for dinner and a movie. What they revealed was a documentary of Sorrentino’s evolution and included loving words from each of Sorrentino’s roommates.

‘Jersey Shore’ presents ‘The Shorefather’
Vinny Guadagnino had the brilliant idea to put together a “movie premiere” for Sorrentino. The Shorefather echoed the classic film The Godfather, but with a Jersey Shore twist. The Manapalan, New Jersey premiere was complete with an inflatable movie screen, red carpet, and popcorn.
The movie traced Sorrentino’s evolution as depicted on the MTV series, from his days as “The Situation” to his sobriety, becoming a married man, and ultimately, his release from prison. “The comeback is always greater than the setback” was the tagline for The Shorefather. Of course, the release date was Sept. 12, 2019 — the day Sorrentino was released from federal prison.
Everyone’s note in ‘The Shorefather’
The Shorefather was a highlight reel of Sorrentino’s personal evolution, but it also featured notes from each of his roommates. Jenni “JWoww” Farley and Sorrentino had a rocky past (the movie showcased her infamous backhanded punch), but they have since grown.
Farley celebrated that growth in her note, saying:
You are an inspiration. I turn to you for guidance, patience, and strength. I cherish our friendship and your love. I am forever proud of the man you’ve become. Continue to inspire and grow. Love you.

Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi is another roommate Sorrentino got into a few arguments with. Again, throughout his evolution, he and Polizzi have gotten closer. Polizzi wrote:
I am so proud of you and how far you’ve come! We’ve had our ups and downs but I’ve always loved you as a close friend and brother. Keep being the amazing you!

Sorrentino missed the birth of Deena Cortese’s son because of his jail sentence.
She expressed her love and desire for a Sorrentino baby in her note:
I love you so much. You have grown so much since we first met and I love how our relationship has grown. You are truly one of my best friends and I consider you my brother and Lauren my sister. I can’t wait for you to have babies so we can have play dates! Love you so much!

Ronnie Ortiz-Magro entered into a rehabilitation program and turned to Sorrentino for guidance along the way. Despite their rocky history, Ortiz-Magro now considers Sorrentino a good friend, writing:
It’s been a long journey. Been an honor to be by your side. You define the phrase ‘The decisions you make in the past do not define who you are today.’ Proud to be your friend.

While she hasn’t been able to get to know Sorrentino as much as the other roommates, Angelina Pivarnick expressed her desire to do so in her note:
I am very proud of you because you took something that many people would take as a negative and you made it into a positive. Hopefully in the future we can become closer

Guadagnino’s wrapped the movie up with his note, which read:
A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor. At this point, you’ve weathered every storm that a sailor could face. You’re my inspiration brother.

Emotional to be back with his family and overwhelmed by the outpouring of love pictured in The Shorefather, Sorrentino concluded the episode with his sentiments:
The last 10 years have been a rollercoaster of ups and downs. A lot of the time, there’s not a fairtytale ending — actually, most of the time, there’s not. But having my roommates stand by me, it just gave me the strength to get through that very, very trying time and a very, very emotional situation. And I am so grateful to have them in my life and now going forward to the next 10 years, I have friends that I can call family, and that means the most.
