Ronnie from ‘Jersey Shore: Family Vacation’ steps down
Ortiz-Magro shared a big announcement with Jersey Shore fans on May 13. His news came a day after fans learned about Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi’s return to reality TV.
“After talking to the team at MTV, we have mutually agreed that I will step away from the show while I seek medical treatment for mental health issues that I’ve ignored for too long,” Ortiz-Magro said in his Instagram Stories. At this time, it’s unclear where Ortiz-Magro will seek treatment.
“My number one goal now is facing my struggles head-on,” the reality star continued. “This process will be difficult, but my #1 priority is to get healthy and be the best man and the best father I can for my daughter.” Many Jersey Shore fans want the best for Ortiz-Magro and are cheering him on in his recovery.
Will producers edit Ronnie Ortiz-Magro out of ‘Jersey Shore: Family Vacation?’
After the teaser trailer for season 4B came out, many Jersey Shore fans saw Ortiz-Magro was missing, aside from a cardboard cutout of his face. Given his recent arrest and decision to step down from the show, some fans believe Ortiz-Magro could get edited out of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation Season 4B.
In addition to his lack of presence in the trailers, there’s no mention of Ortiz-Magro in most of the social media promoting the series. 495 Productions nor MTV returned a request for comment regarding whether or not Ortiz-Magro will be featured in new episodes by the time of publication.
Ronnie Ortiz-Magro arrested for domestic violence charges in April 2021
Ortiz-Magro’s girlfriend Saffire Matos called the police on Apr. 22. The authorities arrested Ortiz-Magro for domestic violence. At the time, TMZ reported Matos had visible marks on her body when the cops arrived. They also named Ortiz-Magro as the “aggressor” in the situation.
A few days after his arrest, Ortiz-Magro and Matos were active on social media and seemingly OK with each other. Matos urged her followers not to believe everything they read online. A few weeks later, Ortiz-Magro announced his break from the MTV series.
Ronnie Ortiz-Magro missing from 2021 Movie & TV Awards: Unscripted as ‘Jersey Shore’ cast is recognized
On May 17, Jersey Shore: Family Vacation won the award for Best Docu-Reality Show at the MTV Movie & TV Awards: Unscripted. MTV also recognized the cast with the Reality Royalty lifetime achievement award.
Ortiz-Magro was the only cast member who didn’t participate in the ceremony. Vinny Guadagnino, Angelina Pivarnick, Jenni “JWoww” Farley, and Polizzi accepted the honor in person. Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, Deena Cortese, and DJ Pauly D phoned in for the awards.
