‘Jersey Shore: Family Vacation’ Theory: Ronnie Ortiz-Magro Will Return Before Sammi ‘Sweetheart’ Giancola Does
Shortly after Ronnie Ortiz-Magro announced his exit from Jersey Shore: Family Vacation to focus on his mental health, fans quickly turned their minds to Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola. Could Ortiz-Magro’s departure from Jersey Shore and Giancola’s single status mean she’ll appear in future episodes of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation? We have some thoughts.
Sammi ‘Sweetheart’ Giancola posts about ‘Jersey Shore’ on TikTok
After breaking up with her fiancé Christian Biscardi, Giancola started posting more Jersey Shore-related content on her TikTok. In the comments of one post, a fan asked about the likelihood of her involvement in Jersey Shore: Family Vacation since Oritz-Magro left.
“Please make a surprise [appearance] on the Jersey Shore!” they wrote (via Reddit). “Come back, we miss [you], Sam.” Giancola “liked” the comment, sending many of her followers into a tizzy. Could this mean she’s coming back?
In another TikTok post from Nov. 7, Giancola uses a sound clip from the very first episode of Jersey Shore. “A guidette is someone who takes really good care of themselves,” Giancola says, explaining the lifestyle. Once again, fans started speculating about her return.
Ronnie Ortiz-Magro hopes to come back in ‘Jersey Shore: Family Vacation’ Season 5
On May 13, 2021, Ortiz-Magro revealed he was taking a break from the reality series. “After talking to the team at MTV, we have mutually agreed that I will step away from the show while I seek medical treatment for mental health issues that I’ve ignored for too long,” he wrote in his Instagram Stories. “My number one goal now is facing my struggles head-on.”
A few days later, a source close to Ortiz-Magro said he wasn’t ready to pursue rehab yet. By August 2021, Ortiz-Magro told TMZ about his return to Jersey Shore: Family Vacation.
“I’m four months sober,” he told the outlet. “I feel great.” Ortiz-Magro said he was in contact with Jersey Shore producers, too. “Hopefully the end of season 5 [I’ll be back]. All the fans love me and I love them too, so I’ll give them what they want.”
Sammi ‘Sweetheart’ isn’t coming back, but Ronnie Ortiz-Magro will
MTV has not confirmed or denied Ortiz-Magro’s return in Jersey Shore: Family Vacation Season 5. However, based on Giancola’s initial reasons for not wanting to come back for the reboot, we can’t see her appearing in new episodes of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation.
Since leaving the show, Giancola has pursued other interests, like owning and operating her boutique stores, Sweetheart Styles and Sweetheart Coast. There seems to be no ill will between Giancola and her Jersey Shore roommates, who still hold her in high regard. But at this point, Giancola’s reality TV days seem to be far behind her.
Plus, Ortiz-Magro claims to have been in contact with Jersey Shore producers, leading us to believe he’ll be back at some point. It may not be in the first half of season 5, but it could be in the second half, likely filming in the new year. And if Ortiz-Magro is coming back, Giancola will likely staying away.
MTV could surprise the cast of ‘Jersey Shore: Family Vacation’ and fans alike
While we can’t see this happening, Giancola appearing on Jersey Shore: Family Vacation isn’t entirely impossible. Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino sparked rumors among Jersey Shore fans after the season 4B finale implying Giancola’s return.
“Bring back Samantha,” the fan tweeted. Sorrentino replied: “The streets are saying she is returning” with a shrug emoji. Again, nothing is confirmed at this time. But we wouldn’t put it past MTV to surprise fans and the Jersey Shore cast alike with an appearance from Giancola.
