‘Jersey Shore’: MTV is Trying to Copy Ronnie and Sammi’s Relationship With This 1 New Couple
For many fans, nothing could ever replicate those first few seasons of Jersey Shore. However, MTV is working on bringing a couple together to reproduce the dynamic between Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola and Ronnie Ortiz-Magro on a new show.
Why did ‘Jersey Shore’ stars Sammi and Ronnie break up?
To many fans, and even the Jersey Shore roommates, Sammi and Ronnie’s relationship should have ended years ago. During the first season of the show, the two became an item; however, there was turmoil. They broke up at the reunion show because of never-before-seen footage of Sammi talking to Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino.
The second season brought the two back together again, but Ronnie continued to go out and hook up with other women. That led to the famous note, written by Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and Jennifer “JWoww” Farley describing Ron’s actions to Sammi. To the friends’ dismay, Sammi gets back together with Ronnie anyway.
Season 3 of Jersey Shore continued with more of the same from the couple. The continuous on-again-off-again didn’t end until August 2014. They announced their official breakup to the media and wished nothing but the best to each other. Sam explained she wanted to focus on herself, while Ron blamed their schedules for the split.
In March 2016, the couple was rumored to be dating again but taking it slower. However, the relationship was never confirmed, and Ron began dating Malika Haqq that December.
Is ‘Jersey Shore’ trying to bring back the Sammi and Ronnie relationship with this new couple?
The second season of Double Shot at Love with Pauly “DJ Pauly D” DelVecchio and Vinny Guadagnino is very different from the first. It’s no longer a dating competition to win over the hearts of the two men.
Instead, the bros bring back five of their exes from the first season. One of the women, Derynn Paige, brings along three male friends. Now we have a Las Vegas suite full of eight strangers living, working, and clubbing together. This sounds a lot like the original Jersey Shore but in a new location.
Pauly D and Vinny serve as mentors to the group. They get the roommates a job at the Drais Beach Club, and several of the women are already in trouble on the first day. This sounds a bit like the Shore Store drama to fans.
Then, Brandon Stakemann hooks up with roommate Marissa Lucchese. The two both agree it would be a casual thing, but afterward, Marissa gets jealous when Brandon dances with other women at the club.
‘Jersey Shore’ Reboot: Marissa and Brandon are the new Ronnie and Sammie
The entire Las Vegas suite gets involved in Marissa and Brandon’s business — in true Jersey Shore fashion. The gang is having an Italian family dinner when things blow up again. Nikki Hall begins yelling at Brandon, calling him a “f*ck boy” for what he did to Marissa.
True fans of the original reality TV show know that this is only the beginning. We are guessing we will see a lot more on-again-off-again with Marissa and Brandon as Double Shot of Love Season 2 continues.
