The reality show Jersey Shore was one of MTV’s most successful endeavors between 2009 and 2012. And that was due to not only the antics of the cast but also the family bond and connection between everyone on the show.

Fans called for a reunion several years later, and Jersey Shore: Family Vacation was born. But now Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, who is arguably the show’s most well-known cast member, is saying goodbye for good. And she recently tweeted her true thoughts about leaving.

‘Jersey Shore’ brought the cast close together more than a decade ago

When Jersey Shore first graced our television screens in 2009, nobody could have expected it to turn into what it became. Eight “guidos” joined the cast and were reportedly paid $100 per week during filming. But people from all over the country tuned in every “Thursday Jerzday” to laugh with the cast.

By the show’s final season, the cast’s net worths were in the millions. They’d created a fan base that no other MTV show had seen in such a short amount of time. They were popular on social media, and their careers were going in directions far beyond the show. Despite that Jersey Shore came to an end in 2013, the cast stayed relevant years later.

‘Jersey Shore: Family Vacation’ reunited everyone

After Jersey Shore’s run came to an end, fans called for the show to return. But most of the cast members were starting families and getting other jobs, and they didn’t have time to be on a reality show. However, due to popular demand, the cast finally worked out a deal with MTV to launch a brand new spinoff: Jersey Shore: Family Vacation.

The show launched in 2018, and though we weren’t sure what to expect, it was a hit. Polizzi and Farley were moms, the volatile Angelina Pivarnick had replaced Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola, and Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino was battling some legal issues. Still, though, the cast’s love for each other and sense of humor had fans instantly wanting more.

Polizzi recently said leaving the show is “bittersweet”

After multiple seasons on the show, Polizzi announced on a podcast that she wasn’t coming back for another season. She’s a mother of three, and she wants to focus on her kids and her marriage. Nobody blames her for the departure, though fans are certainly sad to see her go.

On May 14, Polizzi tweeted her thoughts about leaving the show. “Bittersweet it’ll be my last Jersey Shore episode in two weeks. Love you all,” she wrote, complete with heart and lip emojis. Bittersweet seems like the best way to describe it; Polizzi’s fans wrote in the comments how much they’ll miss her.

Right now, Polizzi needs to focus on her family. But as her kids grow up, it’s possible she could decide to return to MTV in some capacity, though it’s unknown right now. Fans suggested she and Jenni Farley bring back their reality show, and Polizzi did entertain the idea. Still, though, she has her clothing store and family to focus on for the time being.
