‘Jersey Shore’: Quarantine Upends Ronnie Ortiz-Magro’s GTL Routine
Ronnie Ortiz-Magro is having some trouble adjusting to life under quarantine. The Jersey Shore star’s gym-tan-laundry routine has been upended by the coronavirus (COVID-19) lockdown, he shared in an April 24 Instagram post.
Ronnie Ortiz-Magro says quarantine is ‘killing’ him
“This [quarantine] is killing me!!” Ortiz-Margro wrote in his recent update. “You telling me I have to tan in the sun like the rest of the world?”
He then added several hashtags to his post, including #NOGTL, #JustGL, and #FKiNeedSomeT.
Back in the day, Ortiz-Margro, 34, and his Jersey Shore castmates were famous for their GTL lifestyle.
“If you don’t go to the gym, you don’t look good. If you don’t tan, you’re pale. And if you don’t do laundry, you ain’t got no clothes,” as the Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino — who popularized the phrase — explained on an episode of Jersey Shore.
Fans urge him to get a tanning bed
After Ortiz-Magro shared his tanning woes, fans urged him to invest in a tanning bed.
“Get like @djpaulyd and buy a tanning bed for your house lol,” one commented.
“You mean you don’t own a tanning bed, what kind of Jersey are you?” another asked.
Others assured him that even if he was looking a little pale, there was nothing to worry about. “You still look great @realronniemagro don’t stress about tanning,” one wrote.
He’s experienced ‘a bunch of unfortunate events’ recently
The Jersey Shore star has had a drama-filled year, as fans know.
In October 2019, he and then-girlfriend Jen Harley had a violent altercation in Los Angeles that ended with Ortiz-Magro being arrested and eventually charged with domestic violence. Then, in January 2020, he says she assaulted him in his home. He got a restraining order against her after the alleged assault, while she has an order of protection against him stemming from the October incident.
Harley also has sole custody of the couple’s 2-year-old daughter Ariana, since the restraining order bars Ortiz-Magro from seeing his child. On his Instagram story, he recently shared several photos of his Ariana, including one with the caption “I miss you like crazy.”
On the April 23 episode of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation, Sorrentino, Vinny Guadagnino, and Pauly “DJ Pauly D” DelVecchio checked in with their friend, who has been hard to reach amidst all his personal drama. When they reached him by phone, Ortiz-Magro said he was doing OK.
“I mean, one day at a time,” he said. “A bunch of unfortunate events that were completely out of my control, and all I can do is stay away from the situation that got me to where that is.”
“All I can do is move forward and hope it never happens again, and just grow as a person and grow as a man and grow as a father,” he added. “That’s all I can really do.”
