‘Jersey Shore’: The Surprising Roommate Serving Fans Subs and Salads
When Jersey Shore fans think of food, their minds might go to the “Keto Guido” or “Big Daddy Sitch.” But Vinny Guadagnino nor Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino are breaking into the food space with a virtual restaurant.
Instead, Pauly DelVecchio is serving up subs and salads right to Jersey Shore: Family Vacation fans’ doors through GrubHub. Showbiz Cheat Sheet spoke with DJ Pauly D over Zoom about his virtual restaurant, Pauly D’s Italian Subs.
Pauly D’s Italian Subs is helping restaurants stay afloat
The delivery-only, virtual restaurant is bringing Jersey Shore: Family Vacation fans made-to-order subs through Grubhub. Operated through Virtual Dining Concepts, DelVecchio partnered with Chef Eric Greenspan to create sandwiches and salads.
“I wanted to help out some restaurants right now [and] give them an opportunity to actually build some revenue and help them stay afloat in these times,” DelVecchio explained to Showbiz. For him, going to a corner deli for a sandwich feels like home. But in the middle of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, that’s not as easy to do as it once was.
‘Jersey Shore: Family Vacation’ star Pauly D has a virtual restaurant
Thanks to GrubHub and Virtual Dining Concepts, DelVecchio is bringing some of his favorite foods right to the homes of his fans. What’s more, he’s helping save local restaurants in the process. Working with celebrities like DelVecchio, Virtual Dining Concepts borrows an established restaurant’s kitchen equipment and staff to cater to a local market. 30% of the profits go directly back to the business.
“Literally you can implement this process into existing kitchens using their equipment,” the Double Shot at Love star said. “But the food is our ingredients [and] our formula.” YouTube superstar MrBeast, Mariah Carey, and Tyga also have similar operations.
DJ Pauly D recommends the Italian sub, naturally
We couldn’t speak to DelVecchio about his endeavors in food without asking what he recommends. Pauly D’s Italian Subs offers a variety of hoagies, salads, and even dessert. Each sandwich is served on an 8-inch Amoroso roll with mayo, lettuce, onions, mild banana peppers, Italian herbs, and something called “The Drip.”
“‘The Drip’ is what makes the sandwich amazing,” DelVecchio said. “It’s what gives it a little kick and gives it the ‘Pauly D‘ flavor.” He couldn’t reveal exactly what’s included in the special sauce. But he did say it adds some heat to the sandwiches and salads offered.
As for DelVecchio’s favorite, it’s an Italian. “It’s a classic Italian [hoagie],” he said. “It’s got everything that I wanted in it [and] reminds me of what I got growing up.” Living in Las Vegas, a decent Italian sub is hard to come by — but not anymore. “I’m really happy about that,” DelVecchio added.
How to order Pauly D’s Italian Subs
DelVecchio is excited to bring his subs and salads to Jersey Shore fans across the nation. “Right now, [we’re] available in major metropolitan areas,” DelVecchio said. But they’re adding new pop-up restaurants every single day.
“I advise everybody to check back often — just type in your zip code into GrubHub and see if I’m available because I’m adding every single day,” he concluded. Check GrubHub now to see if Pauly D’s Italian Subs is in your location.
